Bandits Open League With a Win Over Defending League Champs!
The 2012 Roxborough Bandits opened their league with a huge win over the Wayne Wolverines.
The Bandits offense did the little things it needed to in order to get the win. The team played small ball, using 4 stolen bases, a sac bunt, and timely hitting to fuel the offense(RBIs from the M&M boys - Minuto, Melady, McGarry). This, along with monstrous 2-rbi double from Loshiavo provided the Bandit offense with 5 runs.
This would be all the team needed as it received solid pitching from Team Captain, Mike Opiela. Opiela went 6 1/3 allowing just 2 runs, while striking out 3. Opiela did get in trouble at times, (8 hits, 7 walks), allowing multiple guys to reach base, but the veteran pitcher showed his ability to pitch out of jams and didn't allow a run until the 7th and final inning.
To go along with the offense and the pitching, the Bandit defense really impressed. The middle infield turned 3 double plays, one of which ended the game. In addition to the stellar play up the middle, the corners also played well, including an impressive stretch and scoop from Rookie 1st Baseman Alex Volpe.
As previously mentioned, Opiela went 6 1/3 inning before exiting the game. He left the game with the bases loaded after giving up an RBI single to left. This set the stage for Rookie Closer Justice Sanders. Sanders entered the game firing missiles. He gave up a single, which may have been two runs had it not been for a great diving play by SS McGarry. This was the only run or hit the Wolverines would manage to get off Sanders, as he got the next guy to ground into the 6-4-3 double play for the win.
OVERALL, THE GAME WAS AN ABSOLUTE TEAM VICTORY - ALL 18 GUYS SHOULD BE PROUD OF THE WORK THEY PUT IN LEADING UP TO THE GAME AND PROUD OF THE RESULTS THAT FOLLOWED.

APRIL 1ST LOCATION - HAGYS MILL FIELD! (BEHIND PORT ROYAL COMPLEX)
BOTH DAYS WE WILL BEGIN TRYOUTS AT 8 AM.
IN ORDER TO HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO WARMUP, STRETCH, AND THROW- PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE START OF TRYOUTS.
WE WILL BE TIMING HOW FAST PLAYERS CAN RUN- THEREFORE, PLEASE BE SURE TO FULLY AND PROPERLY STRETCH.

WINTER WORKOUTS
As previously stated, the Bandits will be holding indoor winter workouts starting next Saturday the 14th of January.
Sessions will last 1.5 hours long.

There is NO SIGN outside of the place, there is a RED DOOR w/ a COLONIAL LADY IN A RED DRESS ON THE DOOR.
Parking is not allowed on this street- YOU MUST PARK ACROSS THE STREET IN THE TRAIN STATION LOT.

Winter Workouts to Be Held @ Indoor Facility in North Wales
The Bandits will be running indoor workouts beginning the first Saturday following New Years.
The location is in North Wales (EXACT ADDRESS TO BE POSTED SHORTLY)
The cost will be approximately 100 dollars per player for about seven weeks The sessions will last 1.5 hours long.
There are various work stations for both hitting and pitching instruction and drills to take place.

Fall Ball Under Way!

The fall season is finally under way!
The 2011 Roxborough Bandits Fall Ball Team got its first taste of baseball action this past weekend at John Boyce Field.
The team, loaded with tons of young talent, had a rough first game- dropping its opening contest by a score of 12-2. The talented team showed their youth as it made one too many mental and physical mistakes in the field.
HOWEVER!
The team bounced back in the second game with a complete turn around of timely hitting, solid pitching, and well-played defense to pull out the victory! The team down its opponent 9-5
The team, who now sits at 1-1, has a limitless amount of potential and Coaches Brian and Kyle have high hopes to not only compete in, but also potentially win its division!
Updates will continue to be posted!
Side Note: Head Coaches Brian Karakaedos and Kyle Delone got their first wins in their coaching careers!
2011 FALL BASEBALL (get ready for the 2012 year)

Coaching change for 2012 Bandits

Congratulations to Bob Fuhrmeister on being named the new head coach of the Roxborough Bandits team. Bob is a long time 21st Ward and American Legion coach who will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience with him to the position. Welcome to the Bandits family Bob.
A big thank you goes out to outgoing head coach Dan Buckley, Coaches Mike Lista, and Gus DiStefano on the past 2 seasons of service to the team
I want to thank everyone for the opportunity of becoming part of the Bandits family. I am looking forward to a great time.
