    FINAL--LATE REGISTRATION--FINAL
    November 17, 2009
Late Registrations will be held from November 17 until November 20 (midnight). At that point it will be closed and no further registrations will be accepted.

Anyone registering in the Late Registration period is subject to a $25 late fee in addition to the normal registration fee, NO EXCEPTIONS.

If you are aware of any players that have yet to register, please reach out to the families and let them know of the closing date.

Registration is open to familes who either belong to the Parish or attend the school, NO EXCEPTIONS.

REGISTRATION TO BEGIN ON 10/25/09 FOR THE BGL 2009-2010 SEASON
    October 24, 2009
Online registration for the 2009-2010 season will commence on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2009 and will end on November 15, 2009. Any late registrations are subject to a $25 late fee and the players will be placed on a waiting list (with NO guarantee of being placed on a team). PLEASE CONTACT YOUR FRIENDS SO THAT ALL REGISTRATIONS ARE COMPLETED TIMELY.

The League is open ONLY to (A) Children of parish families or (B) students of St. Leo the Great School. Non-Parishioners will ONLY be accepted if they participated in the League last year (NO EXCEPTIONS). Registration fees HAVE NOT INCREASED - $85 for Parish families and $95 for Non-Parishoners (per player). The League is open to children from Grades 1 through 8 (no exceptions) and teams are selected by GRADE, not by year of birth.

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO REGISTER:
Please click on "Online Registration" on the left side of the Home Page. The form will appear and parents must fill in ALL sections of the form. Please review your entries prior to clicking the "Submit Form" button. Also note that each player must be registered separately. See below if registering a 3rd child.

To avoid the additional cost of approximately $10 per player (if we used credit card processing) the League is requiring that ALL registrations be completed ONLINE, with payment made by check ONLY. Mailing instructions are provided below. Online credit card payment is NOT available.

ALL ONLINE REGISTRATIONS MUST BE PAID BY CHECK. After submitting the ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM, please immediately mail your check, (made payable to ST. LEO THE GREAT- BILL GRIER LEAGUE).

Mail the check to: Mike Lee, 42 Hickory Lane, Lincroft, NJ 07738 .

The BGL has always charged families ONLY for their first 2 players; if a family has 3 or more players, please also submit registration information online for the 3rd player and CHECK-OFF box indicating Player #3. Again, there is no payment required for the 3rd player or 4th.

We are also asking EVERY FAMILY to volunteer for the Parish Carnival. Any amount of time you could give to the Carnival Committee would be greatly appreciated. The Committee will contact you in April/May 2010.

Please spread the word about the registration process to all of your friends from the League. ALSO PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION PROVIDED TO NEW FAMILIES BELOW.

The website Calendar will be updated as more information becomes available. The Player draft will occur in late November (players and parents do NOT attend the draft). Practices will not begin until December 11. Certain tentative dates will posted to the Calendar later this month.

    REGISTRATION FOR THE 2009/2010 SEASON
October 12, 2009 WELCOME TO THE NEW SEASON!!

The Board is currently meeting to set the dates for online Registration- we expect Registration will start somewhere around October 24.

Please continue to check the site for the Registration Details- and pass the word around to your friends.

    INFORMATION FOR NEW FAMILIES
    October 12, 2009

A few facts about the typical BGL season:

Games are held on Friday nights (5:30 to 9:00 PM) and Saturday (all day) from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Grades 3-4 (boys & girls) generally play on Friday nights and/or late Saturday morning.

Grades 1-2 play first thing Saturday mornings. Boys start at 7:00 AM and the girls usually play at around 8:15 or so.

After the Grades 1-2 and 3-4 games are completed on Saturdays, the schedule will GENERALLY then be Grades 5-6 and then Grades 7-8 later in the day/evening. But there is exceptions and the schedule will differ week to week. The only sure thing is Grades 1-2 early Saturday and Grades 3-4 on Friday night.

We expect to have one or two practice sessions in mid-December. Games will start in January for all divisions (Grades 5-6 and 7-8 may have one game in December).

Gym time is very scarce based on the many Parish and School functions held in the AAC, so practice times are very limited, if any. We do try to use the two Monday holidays (January and February) for practice sessions, unless we need to make up games that are cancelled due to weather.

Game schedules can only be assembled after determining the number of teams in each division- and that can only be accomplished after registration is completed. Please pass the word around that registration will begin soon so we can avoid the dreaded late sign-up's.

    PLAYER AGENTS
Player Agent responsibilities include being present for all games in their respective division, assisting in maintaining the cleanliness of the gym and the gym floor (between games), assigning timekepers for games (to maintain the foul count and work the clock), keeping the games on our very tight schedule and monitoring teams for compliance with the rules of the League.

    We always need volunteers.

    GYM SAFETY
    December 25, 2008
    PARENTS-

Please DO NOT allow your children to bring basketballs to the gym.

Balls continue to roll onto the court during play and someone is going to get hurt. Leave all basketballs at home!!!
