Week of August 21st for the Pride

The Pride will be back at the normal practice field Tues-thurs from 6:30 to 8:30 in preparation for our upcoming game this week.

Friday August 25th we will travel to Victory Christian for our game. It is located at 1501 Carrier Drive, Charlotte, NC 28216. The game will start at 7pm and ALL PLAYERS are to arrive by 5:30 at the latest. We will have locker room to dress in this week and we will be back in our road whites for the game. This will be the Kings season opening game.

I do not have the price of admission as of yet, but normally it is $6 per adult and $3 per student. Please be prepared. I do remember the food is good at the concessions here from the previous trips to this facility. They even had flounder sandwiches last time. Not sure that will be the case, but just from my history.

Volunteers for the game:

Don Neitz, Chris Gandahgar and Baxter Starnes on water

Carson Hall and Luke Graves - Ball Boys

Halftime Food coordinator - Kirsten Starnes

Uniform delivery - Graves Family

Oranges and Granola - Gayle Hinkleman ( please deliver to sideline upon arrival)

Looking forward to another great night on Friday night. Lets come out and support the Pride as we strive to go to 2-0!!

Carolina Pride 61 Cabarrus Stallions 14

August 19, 2017

The Carolina Pride opened up the 2017 season with a bang winning 61-14 over the Cabarrus Stallions on Saturday night. The Pride took the opening drive down the field and finished it off with a 26 yard Td pass from Nick Gangadhar to Thomas Thierfelder and the Pride was up 7-0. On the next drive Brandon Fleming rushed up the middle from 4 yards out and it was already 13-0. However the Pride was far from done in quarter #1. Seth Graves intercepted a pass and took it down to the one yard line and QB Chase Eighmy ran in from 1 yard out on the next drive to make it 19-0 and Toris Saifele took a fumble back 40 yards for a TD and before you know it it was 26-0 and the first quarter was only halfway gone. On the next drive Nick Gangadhar accounted for his second TD with a 21 yard run putting the Pride up 33-0. Brandon Fleming ran in from 6 yards out and at the end of the first quarter the Pride was up 40-0. They didn't let up in the second quarter. On the next possession Brandon Fleming took a handoff up the middle and 70 yards later he was in the end zone: Pride 47-0. That was his third rushing TD of the game. Cameron Cunningham ran in from 18 yards out followed my Miles Staton's 20 yard Fumble return for a TD and the halftime score was 61-0. The second half found the Pride not scoring and the Stallions putting up a third and fourth quarter TD( last play of the game on a 55 yard pass) and the final was 61-14. Brandon Fleming with 97 yards rushing and 3 TDs was the player of the game, with NIck Gangadhar as the offensive player of the game leading the team to two TDs and Toris Saifele as the defensive player of the game with 1 fumble recovery for a TD, a team leading 6 tackles an 1 sack, while Caden Bonoffski was the special teams player of the game with 8 extra points and 6 touchbacks on the kickoffs... trust me he can kick!!!

Honorable mention: Thomas Thiefelder with a nice TD catch and a great block earlier in the game to spring a long run; Cameron Cunningham with 34 yards and TD(over 6 yard per carry average), Nate Robinson with 67 all purpose yards in the first quarter before leaving the game with an minor injury, Von Brow with a 40 yard punt return, Timmy Smith with a 33 yard kickoff return, Josiah Graves, Liante Allen and Seth Graves with interceptions, Miles Staton with a fumble recovery for TD and Cole Emerick with 4 tackles and a forced and recovered fumble.

The Pride will take their 1-0 record into Victory Christian this Friday night in Charlotte. Come out and cheer on the Pride!

Carolina Pride Home Practice Field

July 17, 2017

Many have asked where we practice normally and so attached you will find our regular practice home starting Monday July 17th:

Carolina Pride Union West Practice Field

Click for map
Click for Map

580A Union West Blvd, Matthews, NC 28104

It is located just minutes from the intersection of I-485 & Hwy 74 (Independence Blvd.) If you take I-485 from the North or South just exit onto Hwy 74 East toward Monroe. When you pass through the stop light at Stallings Road you will now have to go down to Indian Trail Waxhaw road( Walgreens, Chick Fila at corners and make a U Turn and come back to Union West blvd due to construction). Take a right and you will head back through the office park until you come around the curve of the road. The practice field will be on your right. Please DO NOT park on the grass. You may park on the street or in the office park just beyond the field.
Once we move there on Monday this is where all practices will be from 6:30 to 8:30 but give yourself time with traffic to be on time. Next week we will continue to practice Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, for just that week. If you have not turned in your registration I need to get it. We will be handing out equipment soon and you will not be eligible for any equipment without your registration packet in and arrangements for payments. We need this taken care of to make sure you will be a part of this team!
Also, please use the website as your weather update. We do our best to get something out by 5pm if we will cancel. IF you don't see anything on the website, then practice is on.

Pride Family

October 11, 2016

Dear Pride Family,

I would like to take a minute to speak to you about something other than football. (I know it is hard to believe)  God has called me to serve, teach and coach others my entire life, whether as a Pastor, teacher or coach.  He has called me to help and serve others. I now feel He is directing me to another endeavor that I am truly excited about.  I have recently obtained my real estate license and has started as an independent contractor at Coldwell Bankers in the Arboretum office.  God has now given me the opportunity to serve by helping place people into the home of their dreams.

If you are in need of an agent or know of a friend, family member or an acquaintance that requires assistance please contact me at 704-617-3398 or email me at mike.hawks@cbcarolinas.com.  Please feel free to visit my website coachsellscharlotte.com.  Thank you for all your support this year and please give me an opportunity to return that support by helping you or someone you know or love find the home of their dreams

In Christ,

Coach Hawks

Weather Practice Policy

As is always the case once practice starts, people have questions about weather cancellations. Since the season has yet to official start with games, we also don't know who all will be on the team, so it is hard to send out text blasts or anything like that so the best way we can make sure we have something for you is to update the website if inclement weather is a potential. Football is a sport that can be played in the rain. Thunderstorms however will require the team to suspend or cancel practice and field conditions will also create the issue. The best way we can share information is through the website, so please check that if you have any questions. We will do our best to try and make a decision by 4:30 to 5pm each night, but just because it is raining where you are, don't assume practice is cancelled. Always check the website. If you don't see anything posted, practice is on. It will only be posted if we are cancelling. Thanks. GO PRIDE!!!

Football Practice Wednesday nights for the Pride

Date: May 20, 2016

Reason: Wednesday night church services

Dear Pride family,

I realize that some of you have concerns about Wednesday night practices and church services.  This is a dilemma that many of you face. The question is, if my son goes to church Wednesday night and misses practice, he could be punished by a reduction in playing time Friday night, if he participates in practice, he will miss what the family deems a fundamental part of their faith.

I understand completely and dealt with this quandary with my own children.  Church is important; we are called as Christians to place Christ at the center of our lives.  However, we as coaches are charged with placing a competitive team on the field for the glory of God.  Without every member of the team present for all activities make it virtually impossible to accomplish this task.

Colossians 3:23-24 states, “Whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart, as working for the Lord and not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” We serve Christ in this program and everything will be done for His glory!

Therefore, we have to come to a decision.  I have adjusted the practices to where Monday and Tuesday will be work days. (work days are the days in which the game plan is installed and perfected) Wednesday will be for the kicking game, offense and defense.  Normally Monday is a put in day (put in day is the day we introduce the game plan to the players).  Tuesday and Wednesday are work days and Thursday is walk-through. Wednesday will also be the day we have our devotional from our spiritual coach Stuart Ramirez.  The practice will be cut short to allow Coach Ramirez to conduct a devotional time.

If your son misses all or some of practice Wednesday, his playing time could suffer, whether he is a starter or not.  I feel as though this is a fair solution to a difficult problem.  I have prayed and reflected on this issue for some time and I feel like this is the direction the Lord would have us go.  If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me at 704-617-3398 or email mhawks7733@gmail.com

In Christ,

Coach Hawks

Carolina Pride Hires Mike Hawks as its New Head Coach

It is with great pleasure that I announce the hiring of a new head football coach for the Carolina Pride. Coach Mike Hawks has accepted the position of head coach. He has 25 years experience coaching high school football, most recently as the Defensive Coordinator for Charlotte Latin from 2009 until 2015. Coach Hawks has coached at Latin various times during the 25 years and has also coached at Myers Park, Providence Day and was the original head coach for Westminster Catawba when the program started in 1995.  Mike has been a church pastor, teacher, and is now in the real estate industry. His love of Christ and football knowledge are very easy to see and we are blessed to have him join the Pride. Coach Hawks earned a BA in Recreation Administration and Physical Education K-12 from Lenoir Rhyne college and his wife and kids reside here in Charlotte.

Over the next month Coach Hawks will be meeting with prospective coaches and administration to put together a full coaching staff for both the varsity squad and an anticipated junior varsity squad with separate coaches. This is a return to the previous structure that the Pride has had and we look forward to the upcoming year. With this change will create the need for some additional time before we are able to put together the calendar for practices, meetings, the 2016 season etc. Please be patient as we work on that for the new year. All updates will be put on the website as soon as we can and I do anticipate a meet and greet meeting with all prospective players and parents once the staff has been finalized. If you have any questions you are free to contact me at 704-575-3956 or email me at Bryce.friesz@yadkinbank.com.

Please join me in welcoming Coach Hawks to the Carolina Pride! GO PRIDE!!!!!
