Carolina Pride meeting at Arborbrook Christian Academy
The Carolina Pride will be having a season opening meeting on Saturday April 21st at 10am at Arborbrook Christian Academy located at 4823 Waxhaw Indian Trail Road. The meeting will be held in the church sanctuary. We will discuss the upcoming season, layout the plan for the summer, discuss registration and handout packets and allow all parents and player to meet coach Mallos and ask questions. Please note this is going out via old email address, on our website and on Facebook, but you are the best marketing we have. So please share with other classmates and those that might be interested. We would love to see all prospective players at the meeting if you can be there. I will put a summary of the meeting afterward on the website!
Thank You Mike Hawks. Welcome Jim Mallos
Dear Carolina Pride Family:
I am certain the rumor mill has been wide and strong so I will now clear those items up. Mike Hawks has been a great addition to the Carolina Pride family and the last two years have been nothing but fantastic under his leadership as head coach of the Carolina Pride. However, Mike received a wonderful opportunity to join the coaching staff of the Butler Bulldogs and he will be their new defensive coordinator in the upcoming season. I want to personally thank Mike for his partnership with me, his leadership of this team and the long tireless hours he gave to our organization, the kids that he has coached and all those around the program. He is a coach with a capital "C" and we will miss him but wish him the best at Butler.
With that said, the board of the Carolina Pride has been hard at work in finding a replacement for Mike, and we have done that will the hiring of Jim Mallos. Jim has been a previous coach with the Pride as an offensive coordinator for two years and his son played QB for us several years ago. Jim is very familiar with the organization and we are happy to have hired one of our own back in the fold. Jim has had a chance to run a couple of other smaller football programs in Charlotte and has been coaching football for close to 30 years. We welcome Jim in as head coach and are working hard to get the season started.
We will be having a players/parents meeting on Saturday April 21st at 10am. This will allow you to meet coach Mallos, to get information for the upcoming summer workout plans and the practice schedule starting later this summer. We have 11 games on the upcoming schedule and are excited about the 2018 season. We will have new registration packets available that day and they will also be put on the website after that meeting. A location will be announced as soon as we have that confirmed for the meeting.
Its time to start thinking football... CAROLINA PRIDE FOOTBALL!!! Please pay attention the website, facebook and emails. More information to come soon.

Pride wins NC State Championship 32-19 over Sandhill Titans
The Carolina Pride travelled to Fayetteville NC Friday night to play the Sandhill Titans in our final game of the year. The game was deemed as the NC Independent State Championship as both teams had played and won against all of the independent teams in the state. The Pride opened a little sluggish and Sandhill was able to complete two long TD passes to take an early 13-0 lead in the first quarter. The Pride finally answered with a TD pass to Von Brown late in the first and it was 13-7. Sandhill again scored in the second quarter and took a 19-7 lead. But that was the last time Sandhill would find points. The Pride defense made the adjustments with some great coaching decisions and it was the both sides of the ball that began to dominate. Von Brown scored again, this time on a 70 yard TD pass. Von would later in the quarter intercept a pass and take it inside the five yard line where Seth Graves found the end zone on a short pass from Nik Gangdahar and the Pride took at 21-19 lead into the half. The second half was dominated by a strong defense with Miles Stanton leading the way for 4 sacks and an offense that moved the ball and scored two more touchdowns to take a 32-19 lead into the fourth quarter. From there Denzell Orr took over running the ball and the clock. The Pride won a hard fought 32-19 game and finished the season winning 4 of their last 5 games in route to a 7-4 campaign. Congrats PRIDE on a great Season!!!! Go to Carolina Pride FB on facebook to view the post game celebration and speech from Coach Hawks!!

Carolina Pride 27 Hickory Hawks 14
The Carolina Pride travelled to Lenior Rhyne College Friday night to take on the Hickory Hawks in a college life atmosphere. There two teams came into the game ready for each other and the play showed it. After a couple of defensive stops the Pride opened up the scoring as QB Nik Gangdahar hit Seth Graves for a 45 yard TD pass as Seth reached over a defender to haul the pass in. After a good PAT, the Pride ended the first quarter with the 7-0 lead. The defense, led by Toris Saifele's 16 tackles, was strong in the first half and they continued to keep the Hawks off the scoreboard. Midway through the 2nd quarter Caden Bonoffski hit on a 34 yard field goal and the Pride has a 10-0 lead. Late in the second quarter Von Brow picked off a Hawk pass and for a moment looked as if he put the Pride up 17-0 as he returned it to the house on a nice 62 yard return, but a "suspect holding" penalty took the points off the board.
Heading into the second half, the Hawks marched 80 yards mainly on the ground and punched in a short TD run to cap off the drive. They added a two point conversion and the Pride's lead dropped to 10-8. However on the next drive, QB Nik Gangdahar found Thomas Thierfelder open beyond the Hawk defense and in one play the Pride had a 62 yard TD pass. Bonoffski's extra point made it 17-8 midway through the third. The Pride defense stymied the Hawks on the next drive and got the ball back near midfield. After a few first downs, the Pride marched Caden Bonoffski out and he boomed a 42 yard field goal that would have been good from 60 (in the writers opinion) through the uprights and the Pride led 20-8 going into the fourth quarter.
The Hawks then got back to that pounding run game and when they mixed in a pass it was good for a 30 yard TD. The 2 point conversion failed, but the score was 20-14 with just under 5 minutes to play. That is when the Pride put the ball in good hands... Von Brow began to run and run and run and he capped off over 50 yards rushing on the drive with a nice 22 yard TD run that put the Pride on the board for the last time and it iced the game. The Pride went up 27-14 and that's how the game ended.
Key Players of the game:
Nik Gangadhar threw for 191 yards and 2 TDs
Thomas Thierfelder had 8 catches for 168 yards and a TD
Von Brow had 58 yards rushing and interception and a rushing TD
Toris Saifele had 16 total tackles
Denzel Orr had 2.5 sacks
Carolina Pride 29 Carolina Wildcats 14
The Carolina Pride won a hard fought game against the Carolina Wildcats 29-14 last Friday night. The WIldcats were driving on the opening drive of the game when the Pride forced a fumble and Von Brow scooped it up and ran 62 yards for a TD. With the PAT good the Pride was on the board 7-0. On the next possession for the Wildcats the Pride stopped them and on a bad snap on the punt, the Pride had a safety and the defense was off strong with a 9-0 lead. After some back and forth play, QB Chase Eighmy hit Nate Robinson with a nice pass in the middle of the field and Nate's legs did the rest for a 48 yard TD pass. The Pride took a 16-0 lead into the second quarter. The Pride scored again on a nice 14 yard TD pass from QB Nik Gandgahar to Seth Graves, but the PAT was blocked. At that point the game seemed well at hand with a 22-0 lead, but the Wildcats wouldn't give the game away. They battled to score late in the first half and also scored again in the third quarter and before you knew it was 22-14 and the game was up for grabs. But the defense lead by Griffin Starcher, Cole Emerick and Miles Staton kept holding the Wildcats in check down the stretch and, player of the game Von Brow, took over with most of his 80 yards rushing in the fourth quarter and he capped it off with a late Td run from 4 yards out. The Pride got the win 29-14 and now move to week four as they travel to Providence Day.

Carolina Pride 61 Cabarrus Stallions 14
The Carolina Pride opened up the 2017 season with a bang winning 61-14 over the Cabarrus Stallions on Saturday night. The Pride took the opening drive down the field and finished it off with a 26 yard Td pass from Nick Gangadhar to Thomas Thierfelder and the Pride was up 7-0. On the next drive Brandon Fleming rushed up the middle from 4 yards out and it was already 13-0. However the Pride was far from done in quarter #1. Seth Graves intercepted a pass and took it down to the one yard line and QB Chase Eighmy ran in from 1 yard out on the next drive to make it 19-0 and Toris Saifele took a fumble back 40 yards for a TD and before you know it it was 26-0 and the first quarter was only halfway gone. On the next drive Nick Gangadhar accounted for his second TD with a 21 yard run putting the Pride up 33-0. Brandon Fleming ran in from 6 yards out and at the end of the first quarter the Pride was up 40-0. They didn't let up in the second quarter. On the next possession Brandon Fleming took a handoff up the middle and 70 yards later he was in the end zone: Pride 47-0. That was his third rushing TD of the game. Cameron Cunningham ran in from 18 yards out followed my Miles Staton's 20 yard Fumble return for a TD and the halftime score was 61-0. The second half found the Pride not scoring and the Stallions putting up a third and fourth quarter TD( last play of the game on a 55 yard pass) and the final was 61-14. Brandon Fleming with 97 yards rushing and 3 TDs was the player of the game, with NIck Gangadhar as the offensive player of the game leading the team to two TDs and Toris Saifele as the defensive player of the game with 1 fumble recovery for a TD, a team leading 6 tackles an 1 sack, while Caden Bonoffski was the special teams player of the game with 8 extra points and 6 touchbacks on the kickoffs... trust me he can kick!!!
Honorable mention: Thomas Thiefelder with a nice TD catch and a great block earlier in the game to spring a long run; Cameron Cunningham with 34 yards and TD(over 6 yard per carry average), Nate Robinson with 67 all purpose yards in the first quarter before leaving the game with an minor injury, Von Brow with a 40 yard punt return, Timmy Smith with a 33 yard kickoff return, Josiah Graves, Liante Allen and Seth Graves with interceptions, Miles Staton with a fumble recovery for TD and Cole Emerick with 4 tackles and a forced and recovered fumble.
The Pride will take their 1-0 record into Victory Christian this Friday night in Charlotte. Come out and cheer on the Pride!

Dear Pride Family,
I would like to take a minute to speak to you about something other than football. (I know it is hard to believe) God has called me to serve, teach and coach others my entire life, whether as a Pastor, teacher or coach. He has called me to help and serve others. I now feel He is directing me to another endeavor that I am truly excited about. I have recently obtained my real estate license and has started as an independent contractor at Coldwell Bankers in the Arboretum office. God has now given me the opportunity to serve by helping place people into the home of their dreams.
If you are in need of an agent or know of a friend, family member or an acquaintance that requires assistance please contact me at 704-617-3398 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Weather Practice Policy
As is always the case once practice starts, people have questions about weather cancellations. Since the season has yet to official start with games, we also don't know who all will be on the team, so it is hard to send out text blasts or anything like that so the best way we can make sure we have something for you is to update the website if inclement weather is a potential. Football is a sport that can be played in the rain. Thunderstorms however will require the team to suspend or cancel practice and field conditions will also create the issue. The best way we can share information is through the website, so please check that if you have any questions. We will do our best to try and make a decision by 4:30 to 5pm each night, but just because it is raining where you are, don't assume practice is cancelled. Always check the website. If you don't see anything posted, practice is on. It will only be posted if we are cancelling. Thanks. GO PRIDE!!!
Carolina Pride Hires Mike Hawks as its New Head Coach
It is with great pleasure that I announce the hiring of a new head football coach for the Carolina Pride. Coach Mike Hawks has accepted the position of head coach. He has 25 years experience coaching high school football, most recently as the Defensive Coordinator for Charlotte Latin from 2009 until 2015. Coach Hawks has coached at Latin various times during the 25 years and has also coached at Myers Park, Providence Day and was the original head coach for Westminster Catawba when the program started in 1995. Mike has been a church pastor, teacher, and is now in the real estate industry. His love of Christ and football knowledge are very easy to see and we are blessed to have him join the Pride. Coach Hawks earned a BA in Recreation Administration and Physical Education K-12 from Lenoir Rhyne college and his wife and kids reside here in Charlotte.
Over the next month Coach Hawks will be meeting with prospective coaches and administration to put together a full coaching staff for both the varsity squad and an anticipated junior varsity squad with separate coaches. This is a return to the previous structure that the Pride has had and we look forward to the upcoming year. With this change will create the need for some additional time before we are able to put together the calendar for practices, meetings, the 2016 season etc. Please be patient as we work on that for the new year. All updates will be put on the website as soon as we can and I do anticipate a meet and greet meeting with all prospective players and parents once the staff has been finalized. If you have any questions you are free to contact me at 704-575-3956 or email me at Bryce.firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please join me in welcoming Coach Hawks to the Carolina Pride! GO PRIDE!!!!!
