Lightning Off to a Great Start in St. John's Metro League
In u-16 boys metro-league play on Sat. Cbn Lightning won it's first game 3-2 over St. Johns. Goal scorers were Michael Power, William Hayes and Taylor Norman. In game two the lightning tied Mount Pearl 1-1 Adam Oates scored the equalizer in the second half.

CBN Lightning Kick-Off Senior Mens and Ladies Inter-Town Rec. League June 2
CBN Lightning will begin pre-season games for a new inter-town senior mens and ladies recreation soccer league on Sat. June 2 in Placentia. The ladies game is scheduled for 1:00PM while the mens game will start at 3:00PM. All games will take place at the Laval soccer pitch in Placentia. We may provide a bus for spectators if there is enough interest. We will be hosting the next series of games in a few weeks.
Soccer Meeting Thursday Evening at 8:00PM at All Hallows
Any parents or community members who would like to become a coach or volunteer with CBN Lightning are invited to attend a spring planning meeting on Thursday, May 24 at 8:00PM at All Hallows School. We have very BIG numbers this season and need plenty of assistance to help us with a variety of programs and events we plan to participate in this spring and summer. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday evening!!!

Although the dates indicate games over a 3 day span this is not what usually happens. Games are usually held on Sat. or Sunday. One of our biggest weaknesses as a club has always been not getting enough games to develop as a team. Joining St. Johns Metro League Soccer will solve this problem and put us in the same number of games as other clubs in the Avalon region.
All Star Team Selections

Parents have been asking about All Star team selections. In order to play on an allstar team we will need 100% commitment!!! After the next practice session on Monday a list of players will be posted who are eligible to play allstar soccer. When the list is posted parents are asked to send an email to everybodycanplay@hotmail.com to let us know if their child will be part of this program. If a parent declines another player may be added to the list. If we have enough players we may be able to add two teams.
CBN Lightning Enter Metro League Soccer
CBN Lightning has decided to enter teams in the St. John's Metro League this season. An u-16 boys team were registered in March and the large numbers of players registering with the club has prompted the entry of a boys and girls u-10 and a boys u-12 team. If anyone would like to help out as coaches or team managers they can send an email to everybodycanplay@hotmail.com
U-12 Boys Provincial Tournament Room Bookings
Parents who are interested in having their child play with our Allstar team in the Prov. Tournament in Corner Brook need to book their rooms early. PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION!!!
The U-12 Boys Mega Soccer Tournament will be taking place in Corner Brook from August 17 to 19, 2012. A block of rooms have been held at the ManateekInn from August 16 to 19. These rooms have two double beds and areat a rate of $119.00 per night. The rooms will be held until June 15and released to the public after that date. Please note that this isthe only available accommodation in Corner Brook for 3 consecutive nights. A credit card willbe required to hold the room. If you are using someone else’scredit card to hold the room but planning on paying cash or debit when you getthere the Hotel requires that you pay for the room upfront for the three nightsplus $100.00 per night incidental deposit which will be returned to you upon departureif there was no room damage.
When calling the Manateek Inn (709-639-8901) please quote the groupreservation number 159811, CBN Lightningsin order to obtain the group rate. Fifteen rooms have been held.
FREE SOCCER BALLS ARE IN!!!
We will begin the distribution of our free soccer balls this Sunday following soccer practice for the U-10 and u-12 age groups. They look fantastic! A great big THANK YOU to our VP of minor soccer for organizing this sponsorship program. We are also very grateful to our many community sponsors and the Town of Bay Roberts for their support.

There will be one modification to the U14/u-16 schedule. Practice sessions will run from 3:00 to 4:)) and rec. soccer game will take place from 4:00 to 5:00

Team Uniforms
There was some confusion about team uniforms during the registration on Thursday night. Parents have the option of buying a team uniform for $35.00. This is not mandatory, we provide Tim Horton jerseys to everyone of our minor players in age groups up to u-10. However, any players wishing to play All-star soccer in age groups u-10, u-12, u-14 and u-14 will need to purchase uniforms.
FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!!
CBN Lightning has acquired the services of Gary Forsyth as our new Director of Soccer Operations. Gary is originally from Glasco, Scotland and has coached in Europe, South Africa and in other parts of Canada before he moved to Newfoundland. He presently is coaching the CBS Challenge Cup team. Gary is a National B coach and will work with our players and coaches starting on April 21 when he will be running the first player development camps for players in grades K to 11. More details to follow!
