If you need help with anything come and see me. I will find a way to get you help so that you can succeed. It is up to YOU!

Parent Meeting Notes
May 20. 2010

Parents and Players:

Welcome to our Fifth Annual Spring Parents/Players Meeting. It is my hope that by the end of this meeting many of your questions are answered about our program and the plans we have for the summer and during the fall. Thank you for coming and I can’t wait to meet all of you individually.

Coyote Football Website
Our team website is www.leaguelineup.com/chsfootball.
This website will be the primary communication device between parents, players and coaches. We have delegated the responsibilities of updating this website to a member of our coaching staff. We will try to update this website as often as possible and send home emails from the website email listing. With this said, it is your responsibility to make sure you have entered your email address onto our website list. It is a very simple process starting by clicking on the email list function on the left side of the site.
There is a calendar function to this site that will be updated monthly.

Summer Workout Policy
Our football program will be lifting on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings following the end of school from 8:00 am until 10:00 am. All athletes are expected to be at these workouts every time unless previously excused by the Head Coach. If you have a prior commitment or a family vacation, please let the coach know as soon as possible.

It is the policy of the football program at Clarksburg High School to encourage athletes to compete in many different sports for our high school. No football coach will ever tell an athlete that they can’t compete in another sport. We do want them at the football workouts though. Our coaching staff will make accommodations to make sure players competing for other sports teams during the summer get in the weight room.

Parent Volunteers

Mrs. Howard is our Varsity Parent Liaison to the football program. We are looking for a Junior Varsity parent to step up to be the Junior Varsity Liaison.

The program encourages all the parents involved to volunteer their time. There is a mandatory volunteer service and that is the concession stand. Varsity parents will work JV games and JV parents will work varsity games. There are no exceptions to this rule.

The Chain Gang is again being headed by John Martin. It is my hope to get the same set of gentlemen to man the chains for every home contest. It is a job that is very important to the game and needs experienced individuals on them. There will be no parents on the sideline unless they are holding a pole for the chains. Three passes will be given to these individuals.

Pre Game Meals will be served for all Varsity contests. Mrs. Howard will be asking for meal money for each varsity player. The player must pay the meal money before they are served meals in the fall. The Junior Varsity will be different this year. Once we have a Liaison in place
The JV team will be served bagged lunch meals after school before there games. This was a successful strategy for the lacrosse program and will be implemented with our JV team if possible.

College Recruiting

It is the ambition of the staff to make sure that every young man that has the aspiration to play football at the next level gets that opportunity. Every year Coach Hurd is in contact with over 100 college coaches about the players on this team. In our first four years, we have already had five players offered full division 1 and 2 scholarships, and several others moving on to play at the division 3 level.
Please make sure that you are doing your part in this process by signing your son up in his junior year at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net. This is an important part of the recruiting process. Also, make sure you son knows that every college that comes in asks for the students grades and SAT scores first before they talk about anything athletically. Make sure you are doing your job in the classroom. If you have any questions about recruiting contact Coach Hurd at 301-444-3504 or also access www.ncaa.org.

School and Behavior Expectations

Every student athlete in the Clarksburg Football Program will be an outstanding student. We will excel in the classroom as well as on the field. We will utilize the county eligibility requirements to render eligibility for our team, but we will aim for a total team GPA of 3.25 this coming fall.
Players who are not committed to being outstanding students and are continuous problems in school, by the judgment of the Head Football Coach, will not be allowed to participate on this football team.
