Congratulations to Dominique Williams for being selected as a finalist to receive a 1000.00 scholarship from the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. He was nominated by me to represent Churchill, and selected among 20 other scholar athletes from various high schools in the area, including Good Counsel, Gonzaga, and Bishop Ireton. Although he did not receive the scholarship, his name will be engraved in the College Football Hall of fame as a 2013 recipient of this prestigous award!
The NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards, presented by Fidelity Investments, established itself in 1959 as the first initiative in history to award postgraduate scholarships based on a player's academic and athletics accomplishments. The program has distributed more than $9.5 million to 756 outstanding individuals since its inception.
I would like to welcome new coaches, Curran Chabra '09 (quarterbacks coach), and Mickey Dillon '06 (offensive line coach). We are very excited about their return to Churchill as members of our staff !!!
We would also like to announce that Paul Ashton will be the new head coach for the Junior Varsity. Paul is a very capable coach with a wealth of football knowledge. He served as varsity offensive line coach for 2 years. His attention to detail and his ability to develop our younger players will provide the foundation that they will need for the next level!
