2012 News & Notes
The 2012 season will mark Cooper Cleaning's 12th year of participation in the Baltimore Baseball League (BBL), which is one of the top men's unlimited leagues in Maryland. After a tough 2011 season, the Cooper squad will look to rebound with a roster makeover, marked by the addition of several talented players from the Baltimore area.
Cooper will play in the Reno Powell Memorial Day Tourney in Hagerstown, MD for the 7th consecutive year. Additionally, we will play in the Rawlings Berkshire Showdown in Reading, PA for the 9th consecutive year.
About the Team
The Cooper Cleaning Men's Semi-Pro Baseball Team is based in Baltimore, MD and plays in the Baltimore Baseball League (BBL). Our season runs from mid-April through the end of October, and we typically play around 60 games a season between spring, summer, fall, and tournaments.
In addition to our BBL schedule, we also travel to play in several tournaments. In past years we've attended: Reno Powell Memorial Day Tourney in Hagerstown, MD 4th of July Firecracker Tourney in Harrisburg, PA Grover Frye Labor Day Tourney in Frederick, MD Mid-Summer Classic in Chicago, IL Berkshire Wood Bat Showdown in Reading, PA Charlottesville, VA Labor Day and Memorial Day Tourneys
Team members vary in age from 19-45. Most of us are either current or former college players. The team is sponsored by George Cooper (owner of Cooper Cleaning), who is also our veteran catcher and first baseman. Phil Hutson and Elliot DeGroot assist Cooper with GM and managerial responsibilities.

Baltimore Baseball League
The Baltimore Baseball League (BBL) is a 12-team, wood bat league for players over the age of 18 that plays an average of 3 games per week at various fields around the Baltimore region. The BBL offers some of the best caliber of men's unlimited baseball in Maryland. Cooper Cleaning's home field is Joe Cannon Stadium in Hanover, with some home games also played at Park School's Sugar Complex.
Tobi Stoner Makes MLB Debut
Former Cooper Cleaning (2004 and 2005 seasons) player Tobi Stoner spent several seasons climbing the ladder of the New York Mets farm system. Upon the conclusion of the 2009 minor league season, where Tobi spent July and August with the AAA Buffalo Bisons, he was promoted the big club. Tobi made his MLB debut on September 10, 2009 throwing one scoreless inning against the Florida Marlins at Citi Field. He ended up throwing a total of 9 innings for the Mets in September, finishing with an ERA of 4.00.
Tobi was added to the Mets' 40-man roster and spent the 2010 season in the rotation for the AAA Buffalo Bisons. He was called up on April 18th, 2010 to pitch in relief following a 20-inning marathon the night before between the Mets and Cardinals. He pitched 2.1 innings, giving up 1 run and suffering the hard luck loss. Tobi was optioned back to AAA the following day.

Tobi was drafted by the Mets in the 16th Round (484 overall) of the 2006 MLB amateur draft, following 2 stellar seasons at Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia.
