Tobi Stoner Makes MLB Debut
Former Cooper Cleaning (2004 and 2005 seasons) player Tobi Stoner continues to progress as one of the top pitching prospects in the New York Mets system. Upon the conclusion of the 2009 minor league season, where Tobi spent July and August with the AAA Buffalo Bisons, he was promoted the big club. Tobi made his MLB debut on September 10, 2009 throwing one scoreless inning against the Florida Marlins at Citi Field. He ended up throwing a total of 9 innings for the Mets in September, finishing with an ERA of 4.00.
Tobi was added to the Mets' 40-man roster and is spending the 2009 off-season in the rotation for the Leones del Escogido of the Dominican Winter League. He's been stellar so far, with an ERA of 1.86 in his first five starts.
Tobi was drafted by the Mets in the 16th Round (484 overall) of the 2006 MLB amateur draft, following 2 stellar seasons at Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia.
2008 Rawlings Berkshire Showdown Runners Up
Cooper Cleaning went to the Rawlings Berkshire Showdown in Reading, PA for the 5th consecutive year. 2008 marked our best-ever finish in this incredibly competitive tourney, as we advanced all the way to the championship game before losing 2-0 to Linglestown, PA in a hard-fought affair.
The regular Cooper Cleaning squad was strengthened by the addition of Craig Miller, Todd Perry, Chad Gerben, Mike Pickeral, and Buddy Breidenbaugh from Spring Grove; and lefty hurler Mike Rohrbach, one of the many "friends of Adam Keim".
The Cooper Cleaning pitching staff was spectacular throughout the whole weekend, allowing only 21 runs in 6 games. For all the game write-ups and statistics, see the Game Results section.
