Miracle League Softball/Baseball
Miracle League of the Triangle -- Experience the Joy
(Click on the baseball to view video)

We all have kids who can run, jump, throw, hit & catch. Every day we take for granted the gift of healthy kids.

A day at the softball field is a blessing. But unless we realize that, we will all lose perspective and behave in ways that we will be ashamed of.

I encourage you all to watch this video, then come out to the fields and bask in the wonderful hour of what we too often take for granted, our healthy kids getting to play softball.

Suddenly we realize that the umpires are doing the best they can, we realize that being a young team that is winless is meaningless, we realize that a missed ball, a strike out or even getting in a cheer circle with the team that just beat us is a treasure.

Don't just watch once. Watch each time you lose perspective.

Last Game or 2 in Regular Season - Bracket Info
The regular season is winding down, a few teams have a game left and the rest have just 2 remaining until the championship bracket begins.

Since it looks like we will get all regular season games in without any weather delays, we will begin brackets on the scheduled weather make up dates. So brackets will begin on Monday October 10th and continue on the 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th.

The question was asked, will all teams play in the championship bracket? The answer is yes. All teams will play in the double elimination bracket. The regular season games will serve as the seedings for the brackets.

Now, if we stay on schedule and have no weather days. Not all teams will play on Saturday 10/22, the final day of games since by that time some teams will have been eliminated.

All players will recieve a trophy though and any team that is eliminated before the final day of games will be presented with their trophy after their final game.

All other teams will get their trophy, also after their final game of the season for them on Saturday the 22nd.

If you have any questions, please contact your league commissioner. Have a great remainder of the season. Hope everyone is having a good time @ the fields.

Hot Opening Day in the Books. A Few Rules Questions
The opening day for the 7th season of fall softball is in the books. As is the case with all 6 other opening days, questions about local rules always come up.

All leagues will allow free subs, bat all players present, 9 or 10 in the field & max 5 runs per inning.

13U & 10U-A are drop 3rd strikes, steal multiple bases & you can steal home.

10U-B is steal only 1 base at a time, no stealing home, no drop 3rd strike, & 4 balls = 2 coach pitches.

Opening days are always a learning day for teams coming in from all over & umpires too. Please continue to be patient as we settle in together for a season of fall softball & look to some days of cooler weather to play in.

Keep it fun for the girls. Thanks for playing & welcome to season 7 of CTYSA Fall Softball.

New CTYSA Directors
Congratulations to the 2011 CTYSA Board of Directors elected on Wednesday August 17th.

Newly elected President is Leticia Saunders. VP did not change with Cathy Porubsky serving for another year. New Treasurer is Angela Fuller who replaces Leticia so she can assume the responsibilities of President and the new Secretary is Shelia Reeves.

Thanks to the board members who served as a director the past year. Ron Stewart outgoing President and Mindy Magana outgoing Secretary.

Congratulations and thanks to the directors, without whom CTYSA Softball could not exist.

Commissioner Information

Coaches, please contact your commissioner directly with any questions. They are there to assist you. They are not there to abuse or raise your voice to. Please be courteous when you are interacting with your commissioner and they will in turn be happy to assist you through the season with any questions you may have.

Official 2011 Fall Schedule
2011 CTYSA FALL DATES:
- Game Days: Monday's & Tuesday's (One game/week per team)
- Season Begins with 2 Games Per Team - Saturday August 20th
- Last Regular Season Games: October 3rd & 4th
- Weather Make Up Week: October 10th/11th & 17th/18th
- Championship Saturday: October 22nd
(We will adapt the championship tournament as needed. It could be double elimination or single elimination depending on time and games played. It may not be played at all if that day is needed just to complete the 8 game guarantee due to weather. In that case the standings will determine final order of finish.)

The plan is to guarantee 8 games. We will, however, try to get 10 games if weather permits.

Thanks for playing in CTYSA fall softball. We are happy that it has been such a hit with our young players, coaches and parents.

FALL RULES
2011 CTYSA Fall Rules

CTYSA has developed a very strict conduct policy for 2011. The CTYSA Board strongly urges you to read the fall rules carefully and ensure each of your parents are fully aware of the rules.

Coaches, it is your responsibility to ensure your parents are aware of the league rules. Please refer them to the website or print off a copy of the league rules for each player to share with their family.

The new conduct policy was developed with the best interest and enjoyment of the players and fans in mind.

The rules listed here are the official fall seaon rules. I encourage you to print them out and have a copy with you for your personal reference.

Lightening Procedures
CTYSA Lightening Policy - The City of Temple installed a static electricity sensor on top of the building near the northwest part of the parks near Clarence Recreational Center.

It is designed to sound a siren when static electricity is detected in the air within 10 miles of the sensor. If the alarms were to sound, the games will end immediately. The siren is not quiet, you will know without a doubt when it goes off. It also has a flashing red light that illuminates.

You may see lightening and it may seem closer than 10 miles, but if that siren does not sound, it is not closer than that and not a threat.

The siren may go off and there is no visible lightening, there does not have to be visible lightening for it to go off. There just has to be a predetermined amount of static electricity in the atmosphere within 10 miles.

If the siren goes off it is up to the umpires what to do. You must wait until the flashing red light stops flashing to resume play. It stops 30 minutes after the last detection of electricity.

Send Your Team Pictures
Please send me any pictures you have that you would like to see on the website. I can place 1-2 from each team.
Parking Lot Safety
Last season, we had 8 documented reports to Temple Police of cars being broken into in the parking lot of Wilson Complex.

Fortunately, so far this year, we have had no reports of cars being tampered with.

However, please do not leave valuables in your car. When you enter and exit the lot, please be on the lookout for any suspicious people or activity.

Concession Stand Open for Games
The concession stand will be open for the games to provide some needed relief from the heat, and when it gets cold later in the season don't worry, there will be coffee and hot chocolate available then.

Thanks to the workers in the stand for providing some game snacks for the players & fans of CTYSA fall league.

Rain Information Number
Anyone in the league can call the game information number to get the latest on the status of games being played for that week. It will be used primarily to update everyone on if a game has been postponed or is still on as scheduled due to weather.

The number is 771-0285

Coaches, please ensure all players and their parents have the number. They are welcome to use it. The number will take them to an SBC recorder and you will get a message on the game.
