Green Wave Squad Spreads Some Holiday Cheer
The Dover High School Varsity Boys Hockey Team has spent plenty of time on the ice so far this season, honing their skills and working hard towards their goal of another successful Div. II Hockey campaign. During the recent holiday season, they also took some time out of their busy schedules to give back and help out in spreading the holiday spirit.
On Friday December 23rd the boys joined other volunteers in filling holiday meal bags for 42 area families and delivering them to help ensure that these folks could enjoy their holidays to the fullest.
On Saturday December 29th the boys joined up with the Pease Greeters to attend a troop arrival that processed through Portsmouth. The boys were on hand to welcome back soldiers and other military personnel who were returning from recent deployments to Afghanistan.
One recipent of these acts of kindness is quoted below in their posting the teams guestbook... "
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Dover Hockey Team for there time and generousity in collecting food, and distributing it to all the residents of Crocketts Crossing in Somersworth. I have been a resident here for 8 yrs, and what the hockey team did giving each resident 3 bags of food each at Christmas was a wonderful surprise. Again, thank you to each and everyone who took time out of their holiday to help others."
Nice Work Boys, Continue to 'Pay it Forward'....
2nd Annual DHS Hockey Clinic and Alumni Game - December 23rd, 4:00PM
Attention all DHS Hockey Alumni as well as youngsters from Dover Youth Hockey Organization. The 2nd Annual DHS Hockey Clinic and Alumni Game will be held at Dover Arena on Sunday December 23rd. Prior to the Alumni game, from 4-5PM, Coach Steve Riker, along with some upperclassmen for the DHS Boys team, will be conducting an on-ice clinic. An open invitation is extended to young players from Dover Youth Hockey Organization.
The hour long clinic will consist of station type drills and fun activities on the ice. Snacks and drinks will be available for all participants of the clinic and all players and parents are invited to stay and watch their favorite DHS/DYH Alumni take the ice for our second annual all Dover alumni game, which will take place directly after from 5-8pm. This game is a fundraiser and all proceeds will go to the DHS hockey.
Don’t miss out, the clinic is limited to 40 participants. There is a 5$ fee for the clinic to help cover cost of this event. This is a way for the DHS Hockey Boys to give back to the organization that helped many of them learn the skills and have the desire to become a high school player and play at that level.
Welcome to the 35th annual Dover High School Hockey Jamboree!
With an exciting day of pre-season hockey competition as our platform, the DHS Hockey Boosters are thrilled to host the largest, single-day jamboree in the history of New Hampshire Hockey! With 17 boys and 7 girls teams, traveling from as far away as Berlin, (thanks for that 2.5 hour-drive!), both teams and fans will experience a thrilling sample of the upcoming season.
Whether you’re part of a team, a fan or associated business, thank you for participating! We hope that you enjoy your Jamboree experience. The Jamboree Program is designed to be a source of information and reminder that our teams are supported by community efforts.
A special “Thank you!” goes to our sponsors, business partners and the staff of the Dover Arena. Without your support, the Jamboree would not be the success that it is. PLEASE… Patronize the businesses listed in the Jamboree Program and on our website. Supporting our sponsors and partners keeps our hockey community strong and makes future Dover Hockey Jamborees possible.
We invite you visit our website www.greenwavehockey.org. to view selected highlights of the Jamboree as well as updates to the Jamboree Program. You may also forward your best photos/stories/comments of the day to us for feedback or publication.
Thanks and have a great season!

Green Wave Hockey Loses One Of It's Greatest Fans
As some of you may know, Louis Leccese, Robert Markusic's grandfather passed away on Sunday, August 19th, 2012. "Big Lou" was a big supporter of youth sports and the Dover High School Hockey program. He will be greatly missed by all.
Please read on, a Thank You note from Robert and his family.....
"The Markusic Family would like to thank DHS Hockey Boosters and their families for the beautiful plant sent to us during our recent loss of Robert’s Grand-pa: aka “Big Lou”….
To everyone who showed their genuine concern and support during this time has truly meant the world to us all. We feel blessed to be a part of such a compassionate and caring group of people and young men. The team displayed such honor and respect and truly showed their “colors”. It was very heartfelt and will forever be remembered.
As everyone knows, Big Lou had a passion for watching the game and truly had a place in his heart for each of the boys he watched grow up on the ice and in the rink over the years. A huge thank you to Jim Ochs for the memorial plate that will be placed behind the goal net where Big Lou stood for each game. His presence will not soon be forgotten!
Thank you again and many blessings to you all!!
Todd, Terri & Robert Markusic
