2006 BLUES CUP FINALIST

2006 SERENO SOCCER CLASSIC CHAMPIONS!!

The Earthquakes traveled to the desert to participate in the Sereno Soccer Classic, with the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the country. I guess by now we shouldn't be surprised by what these girls can accomplish, as they came away with the Championship. The Finals was a great game against the #8 team in the nation, the Dallas Sting Royal, with the Quakes prevailing 1-0. They also knocked off the Texas State champs and #16 ranked D'Feeters 2-0. Great job girls!!

The Mustang Earthquakes capped off an incredible season by winning their third consecutive State Cup Championship, 1-0 over the DeAnza Force. It was a very exciting game won on a golden goal 5 minutes into overtime. The team has a three year record in State Cup games of 20 wins, 0 losses and 1 tie.

The Earthquakes went on a magical run over the last six months of the season. They are currently on a 32 game unbeaten streak, and have given up only 1 goal in their last 24 games. During the 32 game streak, the team has claimed 5 straight championships. The first being the So Cal Blues Cup over the Labor Day weekend, followed by winning the GSSL playing league for the 2nd straight year, going undefeated both years. The third championship was Mustang's inaugural Winter Turf Invitational, which was rated a Premier level tournament by Gotsoccer.

Their fourth tournament win was the Sereno Classic played in Phoenix, where the Earthquakes beat two top 20 nationally ranked teams. The State Cup Championship capped their run of winning five consecutive events.

The Earthquakes are ranked #4 in the Nation in both the National Soccer Ranking.com, and GotSoccer polls. They will represent Cal North in this years Far West Regionals in Boise, Idaho this June.

Congratulations to the girls, coaches Tallie Goode, and Pat Uriz, and all the Earthquake backers on a tremendous season!

THIRD TIME'S A CHARM!

2006 FAR WEST REGIONALS FINALIST!!

The Mustang Earthquakes took off to Boise Idaho to see how they could match up with the other State Cup Champions from the Western United States. First up was last year's Regional Finalist and 3 time State Champion, Sereno 93 White from Arizona. Sereno started out fast with 2 quick goals, but the Earthquakes fought back and countered with 3 goals of their own to win the opening game 3-2.

Up next was the 2 time State Champions from Idaho, the Boise Capitals Premier. Again the Quakes found themselves down 1-0, only to rebound again and score 2 goals in the last 15 minutes to pull out a 2-1 win.

The third bracket game was against the Hawaiian State Cup Finalist, the HSC Bulls. Since the Earthquakes had already clinched first place in the bracket this game really had no meaning, other than to try and stay healthy. The result was a 0-0 tie.

Quarterfinals matched the Earthquakes against the Oregon State Cup Finalist, BSC Daredevils. The Earthquakes found a way to win 1-0, and knew that the 2 time State Cup Champions, and the 2005 Regional Champion Slammers were waiting for them in the Semi's.

The Earthquakes came out with fire and determination and took it to the Slammers. It was a great and intense game with the Quakes coming away with a very satisfying 1-0 victory over the (former) #1 ranked team in the country.

The Finals were against a very strong defensive team from Washington, Emerald City White. They had not given up a goal in the tournament. Emerald City had to go to pk's in the quarters against Colorado, and to overtime against Arizona to make it to the Finals. The game was well played, but after 70 minutes of play and two 10 minute overtimes, the game ended deadlocked 0-0 as neither team could find the net.

To pk's we go, and the Quakes have had their share of good fortune in pk's this year, but this game was not to be. Emerald City made all of their kicks and the Earthquakes streak of 41 consecutive games without a loss would come to an end.

Overall a tremendous year for the Earthquakes, with their 3rd consecutive State Cup title, 2nd consecutive GSSL title, along with the first Nor Cal team to win the Blues Cup, and also winners of the Sereno Classic. Great job girls for providing the show, parents for providing the means, and coaches for providing the way.

WE DID IT!!

2005 BLUES CUP CHAMPIONS!!

The Earthquakes played some great soccer over Labor Day weekend winning the Blues Cup soccer tournament. Bracket play saw them beating Bethesda Riptide from Maryland 1-0, tying the Eagles 0-0, and then beating Arsenal 2-1.

The quarter final game was against the Arizona State Champ, and Regional Finalist, Sereno White. The Quakes prevailed 5-4 in pk's after a hard fought 0-0 tie in regulation. The Semi's saw the Earthquakes beat the So Cal Blues Blue 2-0.

The Finals was a very exciting game against the Blues. After regulation and a first overtime the score was still 0-0, then with about 5 minutes left in the second overtime the Earthquakes found the net and win the championship 1-0.

Great job girls!
