June 12th Set for End of Season Drive-in Movie/Picnic

Edison Angels end of season event will be held on June 12th following the rec season. The event will include an outdoor barbecue, carnival type games and an additional attraction. Following the event that evening will be an outdoor drive-in movie featuring "Puss In Boots" in the outfield. Tickets will be free to players registered in the rec or travel program this year including players who participated in Inter-League from other teams. Additionally, players that participate in Inter-League this year (Metuchen, North Ed, Mid-Town, and Merril Park) are free. All other family members and friends will be $5. Tickets will be available online and the concession stand. Players need a free ticket which helps keep the count accurate. Angels Softball Clinic Planned

Edison Angels is planning a softball clinic that will be open to Edison Angel rec players as well as players from all leagues in the area. The clinic will run every Sunday starting May 20 in the afternoon for six weeks. The price for the six sessions will be $30. If interested please email angels16u@edisonangels.com. The clinic will be implemented depending on the amount of interest.
Angels Mourn the Passing of Angels Founder Smokey Kobilis
Edison Angels founder John "Smokey" Kobilis, 71, of Edison passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012.
Smokey was a founding member of Edison Angels Girls' Softball League, where he had been a Board Member and Past President. The Angel's fields are named 'The Kobilis Complex' in Smokey's honor.
Smokey throughout the years supported and advised the Edison Angels long after his presidency here. He helped the Angels with their cause when former Mayor Jun Choi threatened to take over the fields. His passionate plea at a town council meeting to protect the organization and the fields was instrumental in drawing attention to the cause.
Visitation is Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 4-8 PM at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt. 27) Metuchen. Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the Funeral Home, followed by the interment at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Elks Crippled Children's Fund 375 Old Post Rd, Edison, NJ 08817.
A dedication and memorial will be scheduled later this season at Kobilis Complex, Edison Angel's Fields in conjunction with Mayor Ricigliano's office.

Players will get shirts tonight based on what was put on registration form
On Saturday the Opening ceremony will start at 11:00 AM. The Mayor will be in attendance. Please be on the complex by 10:45 AM.
Angels on Deck should be at the complex by 10:30 AM to make posters. There will be food, softball games for some divisions, and games for prizes.

USSSA has chosen Edison Angels for a 14U/16U/18U (Open)World Series Qualifier scheduled for July 14 and 15 2012. Registration can be made at the USSSA website at

About The Edison Angels
The Edison Angels Girls Fastpitch Softball League supports recreational and tournament-level fastpitch softball for girls in the Edison, New Jersey and surrounding areas. The recreational league plays in the spring and fall for the 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 18U age groups. The tournament-level program, the Edison Angels travel team, plays in the spring, summer and fall.
History of Edison Angels
With the permission of the US Army, the Edison Angels was started in the 1970's as a place for the young girls of Edison to play recreational softball.
Over a 20 year period, the league expanded from one open field to five fenced fields with dugouts. In its 30+ years of existence the Angels have grown from a straight recreational softball league with all-star teams to a top notch recreational program and competitive travel program.
The Angels have captured many ASA state and regional titles in its rich history. The Angels field five travel teams in 5 age divisions ranging from 10u to 18u, occasionally fielding an 8u team. The Edison Angels is an ASA league that has played Pony, NSA, and FAST National tournaments.
Our complex is considered one of the best in the state and we have played host to many college showcases as well as college games over the years.
JAXX Gold & Edison Angels Hosting 2012 Tom Doyle Memorial
The JAXX Gold & Edison Angels Softball Clubs are Hosting: 2012 Tom Doyle Memorial , Eastern Regional Softball Tournament - which is being held July 27,28 &29 & with Tournament Headquarters at the Edison Angels 5 Field Complex, Edison, NJ. The Tournament will be OPEN to 32 TEAMS ! This year's Tournament is open to both Gold & A Level Fast Pitch Teams. To guarantee your spot, it is important that you register as quickly as possible.
The Tom Doyle Memorial Scholarship Fund will be awarding (2) $500 College Scholarships. All Rising Seniors who put their name in will be eligible.

16U & 18U PONY States Comes to Edison Angels 2012
PONY Softball has chosen Edison Angels Complex for the 16U and 18U PONY States in June 2012. Tournament will take place on June 30 and July 1, 2012. Registration information will follow.
