Excessive homework and studying will no longer be an excused absence from practice.
Lacrosse is a class just like Calculus or History, and now that we are "in season" we need full attendance from every student every day. Being a student-athlete is a privilege that takes hard work and dedication, and players must be willing to make sacrifices in order to earn this privilege.
Players have several hours available to study before and after practice each day as well as all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This is more than enough time to adequately manage a HS workload if it's spent studying instead of playing video games or going out with friends. Practice is the way we study for our games so missing practice is just as unacceptable as not studying for a test in another class.
I was willing to be lenient on this in the fall because it is our preseason, but this is no longer an option now that we are 6 weeks away from the start of our season. I understand that we all may need to miss a day of practice now and again, but many of our several daily absences can be avoided with better time management and less procrastination.
As always thank you to all the parents and players for your time, and hard work. I'm looking forward to a great season, and with all of your help I know we can make it happen.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Hello Lacrosse parents,
Ready for an exciting Lacrosse season?? My Name is Michael Carpenter and I am the field operations manager for our Esperanza Lacrosse team this year and we need your help.
Our games don't happen without the support of our parents and volunteers. We will need parents to help on the field during all JV & Varsity home games. If you know students or siblings looking for community service hours we would love to have them help with our stats and home game book.
We need (3) people for every JV game & (4) people for every Varsity game.
The positions required are:
1) Time keeper
2) Work the penalty clock
3) Official game book
4) Help with stats Varsity game only
If you are a parent that likes to get close to the field to watch your child play this is the best seat in the house.
