2024 Regular Season JUNIOR LEAGUE Game Rules and Procedures

All teams must submit a roster of players by the schedule review meeting in late March.  Only players on a team’s roster will be permitted to play in any game. Additions to rosters once the season starts must be approved by the District Administrator. Players may not play for two different teams in the same division – not even as a single game fill-in.

Time-Limit – No new inning may be started after 2 hours, 15 minutes after first pitch

 Home team supplies game baseballs and schedules umpires  (even if game is not played on their home field)

One manager and three coaches only permitted in dugout.

 Little League bat rules enforced – Bats must meet USA Bat or BBCOR standard and be so identified.

 Batting Line-Up: Coaches have the option to

– bat 9 players *

– bat 10 players with an extra hitter who does not play the field *

– bat all players present at the game *

* all players must play at least nine (9) defensive outs in the field (subs must play 9 consecutive**) and bat once per LL rules. A player may not be used as the extra-hitter in consecutive games. ** Free defensive substitution when using continuous batting order of all players.   

Little League pitch count and days of rest rules must be adhered to.

 A courtesy runner for the pitcher and/or catcher will be permitted with two outs.

 Mercy RuleThe only mandatory mercy rule will be:

 – 10 runs after 5 innings (losing team must bat five times)

 Balks will be called following one warning per pitcher from the umpires.

– No warnings in the playoffs.

 Games should not be postponed/rescheduled except where weather prevents them from being played.

 – Teams may play with 8 players (without penalty).

– 12 yr olds may be called up from the Major Division.

NOTE: 12 yr old call-ups should wear their Major League uniform, must be announced to the opposing team prior to the game and are not permitted to pitch.

Standings will be determined by a point system.  Points will be awarded as follows:

+2 points for a win

+1 point for a tie

-1 for rescheduling/postponing a scheduled games

All schedule changes must be reported to the District Administrator at District6DA@NJD6LL.org or (201) 916-8496 and to the umpire assigner.

Home teams will be responsible for notifying the umpires of game changes.
