We have Amy Parrish Jernigan as our 2014 cheer director. Amy has been in the sport of cheerleading since she was 5 years old. She has been coaching for 8 years. She was the former JV and Varsity cheerleading coach at South Johnston High School. In 2011, she coached the Varsity squad to the National Championship in the Medium Co-Ed division at Spirit Sports Cheer and Dance Battle at the Beach competition held each year in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Amy is married with one son, Junior. She has a master degree in Special Education and works full-time as the Elementary Guidance Counselor at Neuse Charter School. In her spare time, she is an EMT with Four Oaks EMS, a Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor for American Heart Association and is a safety certified cheerleading coach with the National Federation of State High School Associations, the National Council for Spirit Safety and Education (NCSSE), and American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA). She believes that the best part of coaching cheerleading is pushing the cheerleaders to reach their full potential and to make a difference in their lives.
