FAQ: IN-TOWN RECREATION WINTER INDOOR SEASON QUESTIONS
Q. How can I register my child for indoor soccer?
A. For the convenience of our loyal families, registration for participants of the Fort Lee Soccer League will be conducted via online registration on www.fortleesoccer.com. The beginning and ending date will be announced on our home page. Outside town players are also welcomed. Early Registration will be opened early October for the ensuing winter season.
Q. Once I register, what equipment do I need to purchase?
A.· Indoor soccer shoes (which are sold at almost every sporting goods stores).
· Black shorts (that do not exceed the length of the players kneecap).
· Soccer socks (preferably white, which should go up to the players kneecap).
· Shin guards
· A soccer ball to bring to practice (an indoor ball is not necessary; an outdoor ball is sufficient for training purposes).
The last 4 items your child would have if they played in the outdoor fall season.
Q. What is the duration of the in-town indoor season?
A. The season usually begins the first weekend in January and is played through approximately the third week in March. Ten games will be played in total
Q. When are indoor soccer practices held?
A. In most cases, the practices are held on Sunday’s. Depending on the team your child may be placed on, the practice could begin as early as 12:00 p.m. or as late as 9:35 p.m.
Q. If I missed the winter indoor registration, what should I do?
A. Please send an e-mail to the board at email@example.com indicating your name, your daytime phone number, your child’s name and your child’s date of birth. Your child will be placed on a waiting list and potentially placed on a team as openings make themselves available.
Q. When and where are in-town games usually played and at what times?
A. Games are played on Saturday’s # the Fort Lee Community Center lasting approximately one hour with an adjustment to Sundays only as a result of holiday observance or bad weather situations… Pee Wee games are generally played 12:00pm ending 3:00pm, Freshman and Sophomore division games generally played 3:00pm through 7:00pm and finally the Jr/Sr division games are generally played 8:00 through 10:00pm.
Q. If there is bad weather are games still played?
A. Yes. All games are played indoors, however should there be a bad snow storm or inclement weather of any nature, an announcement would be made on the home page of the website / emails will be sent. Always check the website / emails before leaving home to ensure that there have been no changes made to the original schedule. This pertains to games and practices.
Q. How will I be notified of any game / practice cancellation?
A. In the event of any game cancellation, the League’s Games Commissioner will e-mail all of the coaches. The onus is on the coaches to notify the families of the cancellation. In ADDITION, the League will post any notices on its’ home page of any cancellation.
If there is no notice or no phone call from your child’s coach, THE GAME IS ON. Because of the large size of the program, please do not call the league’s Board of Directors as we will be unable to return weather-related calls, especially since any potential cancellations will be posted on the website.
Q. When are canceled games rescheduled?
A. Saturday in-town recreation games will be rescheduled on an open Sunday afternoon. In most cases, the times will differ. By registering, each family understands that games are played on both Saturday’s with Sunday’s as a fall back as a result of bad weather or holiday observance.
