Eagle Scout project benefits Garden City Challenger Lacrosse team

Jack Ryan, a Boy Scout with Troop # 134 based at St. Anne’s Church in Garden City, presented an all-terrain cart to the Garden City Challenger Lacrosse team at the field behind St. Paul’s school. There were many in attendance including Assistant Scoutmaster Tom Breslin, Theresa Trouvé, deputy mayor of Garden City; Mark Hyer, Garden City trustee; John Delany, Garden City trustee; Al Vanasco, president of the Garden City Athletic Association; Brian Collins, Challenger Lacrosse coach, and Trey Wehrum, Challenger Lacrosse coach. Also in attendance were players from the Challenger, volunteers, fellow scouts, friends, and family.

Garden City Challenger Lacrosse Father’s Day Tournament

 The Garden City Challenger Lacrosse team played their last home game of the Spring 2018 season with a special game on Father’s Day. Joining in the excitement of the day were members of the Half Hollow Hills Challenger Lacrosse Team and Levittown Knights (Nassau County PAL League/Special Needs Unit) . What made this game even more exciting was a special appearance from the U.S. Marines stationed in Garden City who also joined the game.The Garden City Challenger players and volunteers




 

We have some exciting plans for the Challenger League that we would like to share with you.

 

 On Saturday June 16 the Nassau County Challenger League will be hosting a baseball tournament at the community park in Floral Park (next to the Floral Park Community Pool).  All are welcomed to join us, it starts at 9am.  Even if you did not play Challenger baseball you are welcomed to join.  There will be food and good times had by all so come join us for some baseball and fun.  For more information, please email jasishome@optonline.net

On Sunday June 17 our Lacrosse Father's Day tournament at St Paul's will meet at 11am instead of 2pm.  We have arranged for the US Marines to come and play a game with us.  We will have food after the game so bring your appetite and cameras for a photo op with the Marines.  

 

 

 

GOLF – The 2018 summer schedule is June 19, June 26, July 3, July 10 & July 17 from 6pm until 7:15pm at the driving range at Eisenhower Park.  Professional Golfers teach the players some basic to advance strokes.  For more information, please email amvanasco@gmail.com
