REGISTRATION INFORMATION

2013 SEASON

The cost to participate is $175 for Tackle Football and $175 for Cheerleading between April 22, 2103 and June 1, 2013.  A $75 non-refundable deposit must be paid by June 1, 2013. The balance must be paid in full by June 15, 2013.

After June 1, 2013, the fees will increase to $225 for Football and Cheerleading and a $100 non-refundable deposit must be paid by July 1, 2013. The balance must be paid in full by July 15, 2013.

Fundraisers are available to help you pay, including some that accept EBT Food.

Multi-child discounts are also available. Please call for more information.

Equipment and uniforms are provided by Pop Warner. Season starts August 1, 2013.

Each participant registration requires the following four documents that must be submitted by July 15th, 2013.

 

CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE - Photocopy must be certified with the state

(No Hospital Birth Record accepted). Valid passports are accepted.

2013 PHYSICAL FITNESS & MEDICAL HISTORY FORM – All forms must be completed, dated after January 1, 2013 and signed by Parent and Doctor.

2013 CONTRACT AND PARENTAL CONSENT FORM - All forms must be filled out completely and signed by the Parent and Participant.

JUNE 2013 REPORT CARD - Must be the final report card showing the final grades or all semester grades. Name on report card must match name on birth certificate.

FLINT, MI – Four elementary school students from the Genesee County Pop Warner League have been invited to attend the 10th Annual Mid-America Pop Warner Regional Scholars banquet in Illinois next month.

Grand Blanc Academy's Robert Streeter Jr. (5th Grade), International Academy of Flint sixth grader Demetrius Trannon, Genesee Christian sixth grader Angel Brandon and Linden Charter Academy sixth grader Shamya Johnson will all represent the area.

Scholars were picked to attend this year's event from the 12 states in the Mid-America Region: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. 

This 2012-13 Little Scholars Banquet will be held on Saturday, March 9 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Marriott in Schaumburg, Ill. at 11:30 a.m. They will be greeted with surprise guest speakers and gifts for all scholars including T-shirts, patches and certificates. All scholars will be awarded with a certificate of achievement.

"We're just happy that kids from the Flint area are being recognized for something more than their athletic accomplishments," said Genesee County Pop Warner League President Sean Brandon.

Angel Brandon was chosen as a First-Team All-American scholar and not only qualified for the regional scholar banquet, but will be making a trip to Boston, Massachusetts in May for the National Pop Warner All-American Scholar Banquet. 

Last year, Brandon and Johnson were the only two athletes being honored. Both made Second-Team academic All-American for cheerleading.

The Pop Warner banquets are co-sponsored by the NFL Players Association and various sponsors throughout the United States. Sign up for this year's Genesee County Pop Warner League will be coming in early April.

Genesee County Pop Warner Football League gears up for third season

FLINT, MI – For the third year in a row,the Genesee County Pop Warner football and cheerleading program will be available to the youth in the Flint-area.

Kids ages 5-14 can participate as long as their grades are up to par. 

Pre-registration day is set for Saturday, May 12 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Sports Authority – located at 4095 Miller Road.

"Pop Warner is more than just football,"said Sean Brandon, the league's president. "Pop Warner teaches these kids accountability. We want to make sure we're just rounding the whole individual and giving them a chance to meet kids from other parts of the country."

Pop Warner is a national non-profit organization that began in 1929. It is now country's largest youth football, dance and cheer program.

Kids compete with kids of similar age and size. A strict age and weight matrix is enforced to reduce the risk of injuries.

The weight classes include: Tiny Mites (35-75 pounds; ages 5-7), Mitey Mites (45-90 pounds; ages 7-9), Jr. Pee-Wee (60-105 pounds; ages 8-10) Pee-Wee (75-120 pounds; ages 9-11) and unlimited (minimum 105 pounds; 11-14).

Practice officially starts on August 1 and games begin in early September. All contests will be held Flint Hamady High School.

Volunteer coaches are also needed.

"We want good coaches that are willing to have their backgrounds checked," said Brandon. "If we want good children, we've got to put good people around good children and the parents have to know who this person is."

Flint fifth graders named Pop Warner's 'All-American Scholars'

FLINT, Michigan -- Two Flint fifth graders were selected among 10,000 applicants as "All-American Scholars" by the Pop Warner national youth football and cheer leading program.

Angel Brandon, 10, and Shamya Johnson, 11, are among roughly 700 other fifth grade Pop Warner athletes from around the country awarded the honor, which is based on school performance and extra-curricular activities.

The two are Pop Warner cheer leaders.

Brandon attends Flint's Neithercut Elementary and Johnson attends Linden Charter Academy, said Sean Brandon, the President of Genesee County Pop Warner.

This weekend, the students will visit Illinois for an award ceremony for the 1st team all-region Pop Warner Little Scholars All Academic team. In May, they will visit Disney World in Orlando for the 2nd team All-Americans ceremony.

Both girls have maintained a 4.0 grade-point average during the past two years.
