SPONSORSHIP AND FIELD LOCATION
Harold H. Bair American Legion (Hanover) Post #14 (www.alpost14.com) will sponsor its 64th Legion Baseball team in 2021 competing in the York/Adams County American Legion Baseball League. The team is open for ages 15 to 19, residing in the Hanover School District and the Littlestown School District. Hanover Post #14 plays at Diller Field at 388 Blettner Avenue (the home of Post #14 for 59 years) having been donated by Charles (former Chaplain of the legion post) and Mary Diller in 1960.

 

The program is COMPLETELY FUNDED by the Harold H. Bair Post #14 American Legion in Hanover.  There is NO FEE to participate.

Games are played Monday through Friday from Memorial Day to July 2 with a week of playoffs the week beginning after July 4. Once league games are begun in late May and on going, a few optional batting practices are held in and around league game schedule dates.  Wood bat league.  Contact Troy Wentz at busterb327@aol.com for additional information.

 

2021 SEASON -  League Record (6-4-1) West Division (3rd Place out of Six Teams in West Division, Receive Seed #5 in Eight Team Single Elimination Playoff Tournament, Total of 11 teams in two divisions) Overall Record 6-5-1

                           Season Opener - POSTPONED RAIN (until Tuesday, June 22) Friday, May 28 at 6 PM against Spring Grove played at Jefferson

                           Tuesday, June 1 - POSTPONED GRADUATION RE SCHEDULED (until Tuesday, June 15) (Gettysburg graduation re scheduled) at 6 PM against Gettysburg at Diller Field

                           Home Opener - Wednesday, June 2 at 6 PM against Bermudian at Diller Field - HANOVER WINS 10-0 in 5 innings.  Braden Unger throws 52 pitches for the win.  Colby Hahn and Colin Dehaas double.  Hanover aided by 7 walks.  Played in front of a large crowd of American Legion baseball supporters who were glad to have legion baseball back for the first time since July of 2019.

                           June 4  - POSTPONED GRADUATION AND PROM against Dover at Diller Field (re schedule date to be finalized

                            June 8 - New Oxford Wins 4-1.  New Oxford has 4 of 6 hits all in 3rd inning for 4 runs.  Blake DiPietro and Colin Dehaas both have 2 hits apiece as part of 5 hits for Hanover.  Hanover leaves 2nd and 3rd in one inning and bases loaded with 0 outs in another inning results in 1 run.

                            June 9 - Gettysburg - HANOVER wins 3-1.  Hanover doesn't have a hit after the first inning when it scored one run.  Scores 2 more runs in 3rd with no hit.  Gettysburg loads the bases twice in late innings including the 7th with one out and only scores one run as Justus Feeser relieves Chase Roberts.  Gettysburg run is unearned.

                           June 11 - POSTPONED RAIN against Spring Grove RE SCHEDULED TO JULY 1                         

                           June 14 Bermudian HANOVER WINS 7-6.  Hanover takes advantage of seven walks and two hits by Colby Hahn and a double by Justus Feeser.  Justus Feeser pitches into the 4th and is relieved by Chase Roberts.  Hanover led 7-1 in the 3rd before Bermudian rallied.

                          June 15 Gettysburg wins 2-1.  Each team has four hits.  Alex Forsythe pitches complete game walking none and giving up two unearned runs.  Gettysburg scores 2 in 6th and Hanover 1 in 6th.  With 2 outs in 7th Hanover has man on second base and Justus Feeser drills long drive to right field caught by right fielder laying out to halt the rally.  Alex Forsythe adds run scoring double.

                          June 16 Dover HANOVER TIES 3-3.  Tied 1-1 and each team scores in 8th and 9th inning with new MLB Rule of placing a runner on second base with no outs to start the extra inning.  Andrew Olvera strikes out 8 in 8 innings of work.  Bradin Peart relieves in the 9th as Dover's run scores with 2 outs and a pitch that hits front of plate bounces high to backstop.  Ryan Moore adds a double.

                         June 18 New Oxford wins 8-0.  Hanover has 3 hits and gives up 6 runs in the 2nd and 2 runs in the 3rd, only 3 runs being earned.  Thank you to Color Guard for opening ceremonies.

                         June 21 Home against Gettysburg - POSTPONED RAIN

                         June 22 Away at Spring Grove played at Stoverstown - POSTPONED RAIN

                         June 23 Spring Grove HANOVER WINS 13-4.  After scoring one in the first Hanover gives up three in the first before scoring seven in the second.  Hanover is led by Blake DiPietro with four hits, Jaxon Dell with three hits, and two hits by Alex Forsythe and Colin Dehaas and Braden Unger adds a triple.  Andrew Olvera throws a complete game striking out nine.  Hanover collects 13 hits in total.

                        June 25 Bermudian HANOVER WINS 4-0.  Bradin Unger works out of 5th inning 2nd and 3rd one out and 6th inning 2nd and 3rd no outs situation as in the 6th Ryan Moore dives to track down long fly ball to end the rally.  Hanover scores 4 on the 6th with 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs with a wild pitch, infield hit, infield error, balk and high hopper to thirdbase that is lost in the sun as the gremlins of Diller Field aid Hanover to a victory.  Unger has complete game 3 hitter striking out seven.  Hanover has two hits by DiPietro (double) Moore and Olvera.  Alumni Night held with over 20 players and coaches ranging from 1950s to 2010s along with  recognition of 30 years of coaching of Troy Wentz in his final year as head coach.

                       June 29 Dover HANOVER WINS 11-0 (5 innings)  Hanover scores one in first and nine in second.  Hanover records five hits and aided by several Dover errors and walks.  Alex Forsythe gives up one walk and one hit over five innings.  Blake Dipietro (double) and Andrew Olvera each have two hits.

                         July 1 Home against Spring Grove - POSTPONED RAIN

                         END OF REGULAR SEASON (Home games of Spring Grove, Gettysburg and Dover and away game of Spring Grove will not be played per league officials due to five rain outs and two graduation date changes)

                         July 6 At Dover (6-3-1) at 5:45 PM, Seed 4 vs Seed 5 (3700 Davidsburg Road, behind Dover Fire Hall, Lehr Park) Hanover down 7 -0 after 2 innings battles back to 7-5 but can't hold off Dover who wins 10-5.  Both teams have eleven hits.  Hanover gives up 4 unearned runs.

2020 SEASON - April 13 - Pennsylvania Legion Commander declares 2020 legion baseball season is cancelled due to the COVID 19 virus.

                        Harold H. Bair American Legion will celebrate 100 years (1920-2020) of community service with the legion baseball program being involved for over 64 years.  A special thank you to the Sons of the Legion for their continued support of the baseball program.

 

 

2019 SEASON -  Final League Record (4-10) West Division Tied 6th place (top 4 make County playoffs) Final Overall Record (4-11) NOTE: Shiloh away game from June 12 the league has awarded Hanover a win for Shiloh use of a player not on their roster.  All stats are still utilized.

                                Shiloh defeats Hanover 5-2 in single elimination first round game in York County Playoffs

REGION 4 TOURNAMENT hosted by Hanover Friday, July 20 through Tuesday, July 24 with Hanover Post #14 participating with an automatic bid into the eight team double elimination tournament (league champions from Cumberland, Cumberland Runner Up, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, York) with tournament winner qualifying for Pennsylvania State Tournament the following weekend in Boyertown, PA.  This marks the fourth time (2007, 2010, 2013 and 2018) Hanover Post #14 will host this event.

                       Congratulations to Hunter Martz, named Most Valuable Player of the York County League.  Batting Average .593 with 3 doubles and a triple.

                       Winner of Regular Season (Pleasureville - runner up in Region 4 Tournament) and Playoff Championship (Dallastown) both advance to Regional 4 Tournament (July 15-19) at Fredericksburg (Lebanon County) to play in 8 Team Double Elimination Champions of Leagues in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, host Fredericksburg and York County League Regular Season Champion and York County Playoff Champion.  State Tournament - 8 Team Double Elimination (Regional 4 Tournament Winner advances - Fredericksburg - Lebanon County rep) held in Ephrata (Lancaster County) July 25 - July 29

       Final League Record 12-2-1 (3rd place) Final Overall Record 15-5-1 (Hanover 3rd place in York County tournament) Hanover defeated by South Western York 4-2 in Round 1.  Hanover defeats New Oxford 5-0 in Round 2.  Hanover defeats Northeastern 4-0 in Round 3.  Hanover defeated by Glen Rock 10-4 in Round 4 and falls one win shy of a Region 4 Tournament birth.

             Congratulations-Kai Hess wins Co-League's Best Hitter award with a .500 batting average.

            Final League Record 8-6-1 (8th place) Final Overall Record 14-11-1 YORK COUNTY PLAYOFF TOURNAMENT - Hanover defeats  #1 seed New Oxford 5-3 in Round 1 of County Playoffs, Hanover defeats #4 seed Spring Grove 3-2 in Round 2 of County Playoffs, Hanover defeats #2 seed South Western York 2-0 in Round 3 of County Playoffs, #1 seed New Oxford defeats Hanover 9-7 in Round 4 of County Playoffs, Hanover defeats #4 seed Spring Grove 18-1 for the playoff championship 

            Region 4 Tournament Hanover defeats Hershey in Round 1 8-5 and loses to Red Land in Round 2 4-3 in 10 innings and loses to Ephrata in Round 3 9-2.

             Jeff Miller coaches his 400th win on July 14 after 31 years of coaching Hanover Post #14.  In that time, Miller has not missed a Post #14 game.

              Jared Peterman represented Hanover at the League All Star game held at Spry on July 27.  As the starting pitcher he recorded one walk and one strikeout and two scoreless innings.  While playing shortstop he caught a line drive and doubled off a runner at first and went 1-2 with an RBI in a 5-4 loss.

Hanover hosted the Region 4 Tournament and beat Greencastle 6-5 before losing to Penn Manor (4th place) 16-5 and Campbelltown (2nd place) 6-3
