HAWORTH : BRING YOUR OWN WATER !

HaworthSoccer will be giving its soccer players
free new water bottles, that are recycled, re-usable,
dishwasher safe, & more quickly biodegradable.

This is to  keep litter off the fields, help our
environment, use our very own very inexpensive
clean & tested (by our own Board of Health)
water, & save money  thrown at companies that
are poaching the world's water supplies, sucking
water from aquifers far beyond their factories, AND
help avoid children drinking from some one else's
look-alike bottle.

Please magic-mark your child's name or initials.
on their bottle when they get it,  and we hope you
will use it for all sports activities.

Thank  you !

UNIFORM BULLETIN: USING LAST YEAR'S !
August 30, 2009
At the last minute, I was notified that Adidas has discontinued
our uniform line. We have bought up every remaining item
that we can, enough to supply new players & those who
have simply outgrown their last year's shirt., but not
enough for everyone, or folks that don't feel like looking for
last year's, or those who just feel entitled to it.

Uniforms for preK, K, 1st-2nd grades are unaffected &
will be new, including socks for preK & K for the 1st time.
Coaches for preK, K & 1st - 2nd grade teams will also
get T shirts of team color & will be awfully cute.

So PLEASE:  FIND THOSE SNAZZY UNIFORM SHIRTS FROM LAST YEAR !
                             AND SOCKS !

Next year we'll be ordering new style for everyone.

Thanks in advance for your patience & cooperation.

HAIL TO THE CHAMPS ! : PVISL DIV 3 GIRLS
March 22, 2009
Congratulations to Haworth's PVISL Division 3 Girls Travel Team /  7th & 8th grade girls, PVISL champs after today's hard fought final in Saddlebrook againt Leonia (town population 9,000).  In the final minute, a perfect pass from Emma Jansson to winning goal scorer Lauren Malajian put Coach Larry Jansson's Haworth squad on top for good.     Well done !

Next year the 7th grade girls will carry on the tradition, while the 8th graders will move up to the High School level.

Haworth is proud of you all !

FALL 2009 SEASON: WHAT TO EXPECT
June 28, 2009 - 01:01 PM
Haworth Soccer will be working with Red Bulls, a professional youth soccer coaching organization to provide training and skills to our players throughout the season, coordinating with team practices.

Games for girls grades 3-8 will be Saturday afternoons, and boys grades 1-8 Sunday afternoons. Girls games gr 1-2  will be Saturday mornings at Haworth School or Wakeleed Field in Demarest. Boys gr 1-2
games  same locations, Sunday afternoons. This year we plan soccer skills session for Kindergarten with the Mayor at 1pm - 2pm  Sundays at Memorial Field  in Haworth,  followed by optional very small sided games at 2pm at an adjacent field. Pre-K soccer will be 2pm to 3pm Sundays at Memorial Field.

There are no additional practices for K and Pre-K. Practices for the older grades 1-8 will be arranged with coaches and trainers during the week for everyone's maximum convenience, with professional soccer
trainers.

1st weekend of games will be after Labor Day, probably Sept 12/13. Soccer opening ceremonies planned for noon Sunday Sept 13.  Season will end before Thanksgiving in November.

Teams will be chosen before or around Labor day, and the coaches will contact all the players by phone or email.

Good luck, contact us if any further questions at:   haworthsoccer@aol.com

THANKS TO OUR GENEROUS SPONSORS:
March 10, 2009
We all owe a cheer of thanks to our generous sponsors, who by giving
graciously to us, have helped Haworth Soccer offer more to our
community.  I have personal experience with every sponsor, &
recommend them all very heartily,  knowing  that  their products
and services are  tops. So below, our friends:

all the great food over the years.

THANKS FOR YOUR HARD WORK !
September 12, 2008
Many thanks are due to the few, the good, the mighty, and the now worn out coach-volunteers who came out to create soccer fields this week where once there was just grass.  Charles Pialtos worked on Myrtle and Memorial for 2 days in a neat outfit from Polo, Rupert Tiefen lent his creative ways also for 2 days at both fields. Large Larry Jansson lent us the same height that helped him be athlete of the year at our high school some years ago, and for the first time I ever remember, put up both nets on large (high) goals at Memorial single-handedly. Kevin Croehn put up the goals and nets to create the small practice field at Memorial  after work late at 7pm, on his wedding anniversary, brave man, and our best wishes. And Carmine LoFaro closed his eyes, waved his arms, and made the right angles on the field in ways not seen since the ancient Romans.  Mike Devlin secured the nets at Myrtle (are you done yet?) There would be no games in town if not for the efforts of these generous and dedicated men.  We're all very lucky to have them as our friends and neighbors.

THANKS AGAIN ANDY !
September 13, 2009
All of us at Haworth Soccer again thank Andy Anderson, Haworth resident, long time soccer fan,  and emeritus of
Haworth Soccer Association, for marking out our soccer fields and checking that they're safe and sound. We could
not have fields, and games, without Andy's engineering expertise, and the donation of his time, year after year.
Thanks !

HEY ! THERE'S A NEW FIELD IN TOWN !
September 10, 2008
When parents and teens go by the Haworth Public School on Valley Road, they may look up and see what has been missing for many years:  small children playing soccer games on the Haworth School field.  School funds and public grants via the guidance of town hall  enabled the artificial turf construction (certified child-safe), and Haworth Soccer has contributed  new soccer goals and  the field layout with the encouragement and help of  the new school administration, board,  and physical ed. staff.  Games for the 1st-2nd grade  girls (saturday mornings) and 1st -2nd grade boys (sunday afternoons) will be played there,  like old times, maybe a bit better.  Thanks to Anthony Volpe for his dedication in putting together  the new goals so well. Many kids will enjoy them.
