Class of 09,
Congratulations on an outstanding senior year so far. Many of you have been excelling in other sports and in the classroom and the Track and Field coaching staff is looking forward to your leadership and talent on the track this spring. Although track season seems a long ways off, the coaches wanted to send out a reminder to help you plan accordingly. It has long been the Track and Field lettering policy that athletes must "finish the season in good standing" in order to receive a varsity letter. This includes competing in the region meet -- the most important meet of the year -- if you are chosen to do so. This year will be no different.
We realize that the senior class trip to Universal is the weekend of the boys’ region meet. We wanted to make you aware of the consequences well ahead of time so you can plan accordingly and will not be surprised. Any boy who is chosen to compete in region, but attends the senior class trip will not receive a varsity letter. You are still invited to come out and be part of the team and compete in our other meets and come to the banquet, but in keeping with our lettering policy, you will not be awarded a varsity letter.
Since the senior class trip is the weekend before girls' region, the girls can go on the class trip and not miss their region meet. In keeping with our lettering policy, girls who go on the trip are still able to end the season in good standing and receive a varsity letter.
The coaches wanted to make you aware of this so you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.
