Mentor Program
We are looking for veteran HWAC families to act as mentors for new HWAC families. Your duties would consist of sharing your wealth of "swim team knowledge" with new families to get them through the first weeks of practice and prepare them for home and away meets.

Parent Meeting Highlights
If you missed the parent meeting, stop by the Rec Center and pick up your team handbook at the desk. THERE IS ALSO A COPY OF THE HANDBOOK IN THE HANDOUTS SECTION OF THIS WEBSITE. Below are some highlights from the meeting...
- Two changes to Important Dates page - there is a meet at Woodbrooke Hills on Monday, June 18th and a home meet on Thursday, June 21st AND the 9/10 Mini Meet @ Pleasant Ridge is Saturday, June 30th. Updated calendar will be emailed.
- We are still looking to fill the following volunteer chair positions - Mentor Program, Concessions (have 2, looking for 1 more) and Float Decorating (if no volunteer for float, swimmers will just walk in 4th of July parade behind banner).
- Every family must have a family volunteer for two events. Contact Katina Cloutier at katina1@sbcglobal.net to help. Make sure you check-in when you volunteer at a meet.
- Spiritwear samples will be available to view and order at swim suit try-on. Same suit as last year.
- Info for newsletter must be emailed to Molly Zink at hwacswimteam@gmail.com.
- If you know your child will not be at a meet, you must email HWACNOSHOW@gmail.com at least 48 hours before the meet. If there is a last minute illness and your child cannot make a meet, you must contact Kelly Vogelheim at 248-545-8240.
- Coaches would love to talk to parents AFTER practice, not during. Please let the coaches coach. Parents are not allowed on deck at BHS practices.
- If the coaches decide your swimmer should be at a practice time that is not their regularly scheduled practice, they will let you know.
- For BHS practices, please get there when you can after school. Coaches understand there are a lot of scheduling conflicts with the swimmers until school gets out.
- Coaches offer private lessons once practices move outside. Prices vary depending on coaching experience. Contact a coach.

2012 Parent Meeting
Welcome to HWAC Swim Team 2012!
The Parent Meeting is this Tuesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. at the Huntington Woods Rec Center. Please plan on attending.
We will distribute a packet to every family and review important information about practices and meets. You will also have the opportunity to sign up for your volunteer positions. You don't want to miss it!

Annual Parent Meeting
Don't forget the Annual Parents Meeting at the Rec Center on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 7 p.m. Required for all new and returning parents.
2012 Season Update
Time flies so fast! It’s hard to believe another swim season is already on the horizon. Plans are well under way for the 2012 swim season. Sean Peters and Katie Jeffrey, along with a crew of other coaches, will be on the pool deck for another exciting summer. As in past years, returning swimmers can register before the general registration and secure their spot on the team. Returning swimmers must register by March 5th, 2012. After that date, new swimmers will be eligible to register. Team membership is limited to the first 180 swimmers, so sure to sign up and reserve your spot!!!
The registration fee is $210 per swimmer for Huntington Woods residents. The non-resident swimmer fee is $255 ($210 registration fee + $5 non-resident swimmer fee+ $40 non-resident family fee) for the first swimmer, and $215 for each additional non-resident swimmer.
The registration form and the A and B Finals intention letter have been emailed to the address we had last season. Both forms must be completed in order to be registered. Please fill out the forms and drop them off or mail them to the Rec Center with your payment. Each swimmer in your family must complete a separate set of forms to be registered. If you have any new swimmers in your family, please register them during the general registration that begins March 6th, 2012 at 6PM. If necessary, a lottery for available spaces will be held. Please note that under no circumstance will any non-registered swimmer be allowed to practice with the team. If you want to swim this summer, you need to register now! Non-resident Berkley School District registration will begin March 12, 2012 at 6pm. If necessary, a lottery for available spaces will be held.
Detailed information on the season will follow as soon as it is available. For your information, practice for returning swimmers will begin in early May at the Berkley High School. A firm date on when practice begins will be communicated as it is available (closer to spring). Our tentative meet schedule is now included in the "Meet Schedules" section of this website.
As part of the team each family is expected to volunteer twice during the season unless you are chairing a committee. Signup sheets will be available at the parent’s meeting and signup will be on a first come first serve basis. Please remember that the team cannot run without the help of our families. If we each take the 2 volunteer slotsthe meets would run smoothly.

Important requests from the coaches...
1. Please be respectful of the coaches' time and be on time to pick up your swimmer. The middle school practice at BHS ends at 4:55 PM. Please be there no later than 5:00 PM to pick up your child.
2. At HWAC, parents that stay during practice are asked to not sit at the end of the lanes (the tennis court or diving board sides of the pool). If you stay, please feel free to sit on grassy area or area near small slide.
