Warhorse Learn-To-Play Hockey coming to EWU This Fall!

2017-2018 Mites/Learn-To-Play Program Resumes This Fall!

Warhorse Hockey is proud to announce that the Mites/Learn-To-Play Program will be held at the Eastern Washington University Recreation Center Ice Arena Wednesday nights, 5:15-6:15 p.m., tentatively beginning August 30.  We are thankful for all of the wonderful years of support from Riverfront Park, but we are excited to continue developing our young players at one of the finest hockey facilities in the Inland Northwest!

The Learn-to-Play (LTP) program is designed specifically to teach new players the individual skills of hard work, skating, passing and shooting, as well as team skills and hockey knowledge.  As the players develop, there will be games scheduled throughout the season, coordinating with other LTP programs in the Spokane and Coeur D'Alene area, as well as other opportunities throughout the Inland Northwest.

Player requirements:

1)  Desire to have fun, work hard and learn a new sport!

2)  Full set of hockey protective gear (according to USA Hockey rules) ***IEAHA has rental youth hockey gear available***

3)  Basic ice skating ability (i.e., can stand and move on skates without assistance from another player or coach).  The LTP program spends a lot of time developing skating fundamentals, offering players of all ability levels a chance to learn and excel.  Unfortunately, we do not have time to teach players how to skate initially.  Therefore, we suggest at least one skating lesson at one of the local arenas (Eagles Ice Arena in north Spokane, Frontier Ice Arena in Coeur D'Alene).

If you have questions about the Warhorse LTP program, please contact Head Coach Matt Petro at  See you in August!
