The schedule for the upcoming 2010 season has been posted. Several changes should be noted. First, we have replaced the Preston tournament with the Buck's Bags tournament. Second, we are playing each conference opponent three times, for a total of 15 conference games. The Great Basin West conference is now comprised of 6 teams - Jerome, Minico, Wood River, Burley, Twin Falls, and Canyon Ridge. Finally, all games will be played on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Latest Alumni Update...
June 6, 2009
Several ex-Tiger players are currently continuing their baseball careers in the collegiate and professional ranks. The most recent to join the list is Devon Molitor (2009). Devon has just signed a letter-of-intent to continue his career at Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) in Walla Walla, Washington. WWCC competes in the NWAAC Conference and are traditionally competing for top spot in their region. They are also very successful at transitioning their players to the four-year level at schools all over the country. "During my visit I really liked the coaches, the location and the other players that I met. I think it will be a good fit for me," said Molitor in a recent conversation. Indeed, WWCC graduated the bulk of their outfielders this season and were looking to sign athletic outfielders with the speed and strength that Molitor brings to the field.
Kris Bos (2009) committed to Corban College in Salem, Oregon last fall and will begin play for the Warriors in August. Kris also considered an offer from Willamette University but chose Corban because he liked the coaching staff as well as the players. The Warrior coaches expect Bos to compete for a starting spot at first base immediately and contribute on the mound as a relief pitcher as well. Corban competes in the difficult Cascade Conference of the NAIA. The conference typically produces several teams that advance to NAIA regional play. "Kris is certainly ready for that level of play and there's no doubt in my mind that he will be their starting first baseman in the spring," said JHS Coach Bobrowski.
Nathan Bobrowski (2008) has committed to transferring from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, ID to the College of San Mateo in San Francisco, California this August. "NNU just wasn't the type of program I thought it was when I signed there," said Bobrowski. "I want to be part of a program that focuses on player development, and San Mateo is one of the best in the country at that." Indeed, the Bulldogs of San Mateo, a member of the California Community College Athletic Association, have transferred 155 of their last 164 sophomores to four-year schools, with the majority of them to the NCAA Division-I level. Bobrowski is currently playing for the Moses Lake Pirates of the West Coast League, a premier summer collegiate league with teams comprised largely of Division-I players.
Finally, Kiel Thibault (2002) has decided to take a year off from professional baseball after his release from the Kansas City Royals this spring. Although he was offerred professional contracts from four other clubs, including a Double-A assignment with the Boston Red Sox, Kiel felt he needed the break and has resumed his studies at Gonzaga University. Thibault was drafted in the 9th round of the 2005 draft and has plans to continue his professional career next spring.
