Letter from the President
Welcome to Jackson Girls Softball League and to the upcoming 2017 season. For those unfamiliar to JGSL we are a non-profit self-funded organization that provides the girls of Jackson Township and surrounding area opportunity to play slow pitch softball. The league has five divisions that range from Kindergarten-College freshman. The main goal of this organization is to offer a supervised recreational softball experience for the girls where they can learn and have fun.
The league continues to struggle to find volunteers and it seems that fewer and fewer are being asked to do more and more. We still find ourselves short of coaches and other important volunteers such as, Assistant Coach and Board members. The league operates on the generosity of its volunteers and any time you donate it is much appreciated.
The league is very much aware of the economic difficultly many families are facing. With that in mind, we have kept our registration fees unchanged, but have had to add a flat convenience fee for the upcoming season. We are having a 5K Run as the fundraiser this year. The money generated from these events goes to scholarships for seniors, equipment, and donations to the parks. We have also entered in the Jackson Polar Plunge on February 11, 2017.
I would like to thank the parents for letting your daughters participate in softball and for taking them to games, practices and volunteering when needed. I would also like to commend the girls for participating in softball this year, have fun and good luck to all of you.
Thank you to the members of the Executive Board along with current and new board members, without your guidance this league does not function. Lastly, I would like to thank the Jackson Township Parks Department for its continued assistance and cooperation in the maintenance of our various facilities.
