Post deGrom ERA Starts on The Jersey Shore
THE JERSEY SHORE SURGE ARE ABOUT TO START LIFE ON SATURDAY FOR THE 1ST TIME WITHOUT ACE FRANCHISE PLAYER JACOB deGROM. deGROM ALONG WITH YANDY DIAZ, CARLOS SANTANA, DANNY YOUNG, MIKE TROUT, AND KYLE ISBEL WERE ALL SENT PACKING IN 3 SEPARATE TRADES THIS WEEK. THE HAUL IN RETURN NETTED THE SURGE YOUNG ACE MacKENZIE GORE, PAUL GOLDSCHMIDT, JOSE ALTUVE, HUNTER STRICKLAND, DEDNIEL NUNEZ, AND TRENT GRISHAM, ALONG WITH A #1 PICK, 2 #6 PICKS, AND #8 PICK. THE REBUILDING SURGE IS STILL LOOKING TO MOVE CONTRACTS, SO I DO NOT THINK THEY ARE DONE YET. ONE THING WE DO KNOW IS THE STRANGLE HOLD ON THE JACKIE ROBINSON DIVISION THE SURGE HAS HAD SINCE 2019 MIGHT BE OVER.
One Third Into The Season Update!
We have seen some interesting stories already this season. With expansion and realignment, some unexpected teams are having quick starts while others are off to slower starts. The East Texas Big Feet lost their original GM, and former GM of the Lexington Minutemen (2002-2005), Joe Turk, took over. The team remained in Texas for 2 months and has now been relocated back to Lexington. East Texas will retain the rights to the franchise's AAA team. We now head into month #3 of the 10-month season at full speed.
What will happen in the new Tony Gwynn Central? Will we have new powers in the Jackie Robinson National, or will Jersey Shore stave off the new contenders? Will Chandler defend and chase their 3rd straight Mickey Mantle American division title?? All this will start to unfold as the season rolls on!
Expansion & Entry Draft Day Has Come & Gone
The 2025 annual draft has come & gone with 12 teams trying to position themselves for that long marathon we call a season. The Seattle Blaze won the coin toss and selected #1 in the entry draft where they selected highly skilled center fielder Jackson Merrill. Another Jackson was selected #2 in the form of Milwaukee's Jackson Chourio, to the East Texas Big Feet. All in all 25 rounds were needed to finalize all 12 teams 40-man rosters. The league would like to thank Old Glory Restaraunt & Bar in Keyport, NJ for hosting the event for the 2nd straight year.
Jersey Shore Once Again JNJSOM Champions!
It took a 3rd straight trip to the big dance but like Garth Brooks, it was the last dance!
The Jersey Shore Surge exercised their demons knocking off the Chandler Diamondbacks
4-1 in a dominant display of starting pitching. Dustin May took home MVP honors after
going 2-0, 13ip, 7h, 5w, 6k, 3r, 2er, 1.38 ERA. For the Surge it is the franchise's 9th World
Title dating back to its first in 1994. In the history of the JNJSOM, they have now won their
league-best 3rd in 5 trips to the show. Congrats to GM, Kevin S. Nasta and the entire
Jersey Shore Surge organization for an absolute dominant season.
Our Origin & Story
Welcome to the official home of the
Joseph Nasta Jr. Memorial Strat-O-Matic League (JNJSOM)
The Joseph Nasta, Jr. Memorial Strat-O-Matic League was founded in 2015. The league commissioner and host is Kevin S. Nasta (also owner of the Jersey Shore Surge). The JNJSOM is a face to face board game style format, using variations of advanced & super advanced rules, along with some twists of our own.
Nasta is a veteran of Strat-O-Matic playing in a league for the 1st time back in 1989, when he was the manager of the San Diego Padres as part of the George Johnson Strat-O-Matic League (GJSOM). All games being played in Staten Island, NY
In 1993 Nasta took over the league changing its name to the Todt Hill Strat-O-Matic League (THSOM) until its name change in 1995. That season it became the Mickey Mantle Memorial Strat-O-Matic League (MMMSOM). From 1995-2005 the MMMSOM played its games in Staten Island, NY. The league played its final season in 2005.
After a move to the shores of New Jersey, Nasta decided it was long enough to stay without Strat-o-Matic in his life. In 2015, Nasta re-found a league in the honor of his late father, the JNJSOM. All games are now played in Keyport, NJ. The Joseph Nasta Jr. Memorial Strat-O-Matic League or JNJSOM is a division of Damage Athletics, LLC. (c) 2023

ATTENTION FELLOW STRAT ATTICS!
The JNJSOM (Joseph Nasta Jr Memorial Strat-O-Matic League) a face-to-face league is currently taking applications/inquiries for expansion teams for the 2024 (MLB) 2025 (SOM) season. Our annual draft is in January of every new year, with the season starting in March. We usually in non-COVID cases go and pick the set up in person, and have the set separated all on the same day. Copies of the league cards are made and either mailed or delivered to the managers.
We play a 66-game season every year depending on schedule availability and non-COVID delays. We usually meet once a month to play 6 games, with the exception of 2 playing months we play 9 games. All stats are recapped by the league commissioner and posted on our website leaguelineup.com/jnjsom. Score sheets are scanned and placed in our league Google Drive for everyone's viewing convenience. Our league is CUSTOM. We've adapted rules from Advanced & Super Advanced. We do NOT use weather or stadium effects. But we do use the Super Advanced fielding chart as well as custom fielding charts for other situations. We do NOT use holding-on ratings for pitchers, and catchers as we just use stealing ratings and catcher's arms.
We are a 10-team league and would like to expand to 12. We play in Central Jersey and have players from Hudson County, NY, Long Island, NY, Staten Island, NY, Florida, and New Jersey. We play on Saturdays at 9 am.
