Hello Jr. Rocks families,
Well, the 2014 baseball season is nearly complete. Only the 8U team is still playing as July is a big month for coach pitch tournaments.
We have much to be proud of as we look back at 2014, including but not limited to:
As an organization, we won 11 tournaments; an improvement from the 5 won in 2013, our first year together. With the help of Mainstream Home Improvement, Valley Construction, and Jr. Rocks players, coaches and parents, we made tremendous improvements to our new home at Edison Jr. High School. The field, the dugouts, the bullpens, the fence and concession stand are all much better than they were a year ago. Also, Saukie Field continues to be a great training facility and all around beautiful place to play and practice.
So, as things wind down, we want to take the opportunity to extend thanks to everyone who is helping to build Rock Island baseball.
Thank you to the high school staff for working with the boys in the winter and providing support for improvements at both fields.
To all the moms and dads, grandparents, guardians, extended family members, neighbors and friends, we thank you for everything you've done to help your own player, his team and our organization. We would not be here without you.
To all the players, who displayed their commitment to getting better from wintry cold of December through the steamy month of July, we thank you for all your hard work.
And finally, to all the coaches and managers who gave countless hours to their teams, we thank you for your dedication and time.
2014 was a really great year; here's to an even better 2015!
