Girls Clinic - 3rd-8th Grade Girls

All girls in 3rd-8th grade that have registered for the 09-10 season should attend. We will be reviewing basic skills and drills to reinforce them. This will give the girls an idea of what they should be practicing at home in preperation for the upcoming season. This is not a tryout but will give the coaches an idea of the level of each player so we can put together competitive teams.
Boys Clinic 3rd-8th Grade Boys

THE KINGWOOD BASKETBALL LEAGUE
The KBL affords an opportunity to all residents of Kingwood Township and surronding areas, grades K-8, to play league basketball. The program will begin late November and ends in mid-March. Games are usually played on Friday evening and/or Saturdays. Practices will be held during the week in the evenings. The KBL intends that all applicants who apply, in time, will be allowed to play. If our registration numbers exceed the gym space that we have, the league reserves the right to take registrants on a first come - first served basis.
Fundraisers
The Kingwood Basketball League has always prided it's self on keeping the registration fees among the lowest in the state while putting togeather a first class program. This year, beacuse of the tough ecomic times, we actually lowered our registration fees. To make up for this we need to step up our fundraiser efforts. We now have three main fundraisers we are hoping that your family can help our league by participating in at least one of them.
1. Our team sponsorship program. - We are looking for local business to help in sponsoring our teams each team is $200.00. For the $200.00 sponsorship fee each sponsor will recieve their name on the backs of the players shirts, a plaque to display in their business and an ad banner placed on our site. In the last two years our site recieved over 7,600 hits - from local people who patronize local businesses. Your ad can also be linked to your copmany web site or to your e-mail. Your banner will be viewed on the team page along with comming up randommaly on the common pages. Our sponsor ads average around 1,800 viewes each per year. You do not need to have a business to help out with this. When you visit a local business drop off a sponsorship form and just ask most business welcome sponsoring local teams especially when their customers ask.
2. Our on line magazine order. The link is just below the menu on the left site of our site. Our league gets a percentage back on every order. If you are considering a subscription consider using our site.
3. Dress like a Pro - This is new this year. It is an on line order system. Our league gets a 7% donation back on all orders from our site. There is some really nice Kingwood Baskteball gear now for sale. All items will be shipped directly to you from Prep Sports wear. The links for this is above the menue on the left side of our site and a banner add at the bottom of our site.

Harlem Wizards Event

Alexandria Recreation in partnership with the Friends of Alexandria Park will be kicking off the season with an awesome basketball event. The Harlem Wizards will be playing the DelVal Hoopsters in a game NOT TO BE MISSED. The Hoopsters will be a team made of the many members of our community that love basketball and want to challenge the Wizards. It will be a great evening for all, with souveniers, ball signing and lots of DUNKS!! Come out to the DelVal High School on November 21st at 7pm for a great family evening. Ticket order form is in the Handouts section.
Coaches Certification
It is our league policy to have ALL our coaches pass this class. It is no longer necessary for you to attend a class in Phillipsburg. You can now get certified on line at:
NAYS Basketball Training
Any coaches who need to become certified and do not have a computer with an internet connection please contact Anthony De Sapio @ (908) 996-6337 or e-mail kingwoodbasketball@earthlink.net as soon as possible so we can arrange for your class. If you are a coach who has already been certified in another sport we can also get you your certification for Basketball.
Our league will reimburse you for any fees charged by NAYS for your initial certification. Just submit the online reciept along with your certificate for your reimbursement. We will also accept New Jersey Youth Sports Certification.
Basketballs for Sale
The basketball league has a limited supply of new & some used surplus basketballs for sale. The new basketballs are the Wilson NCAA Limited Edition composite leather basketballs . Used balls are the Wilson Evolution. These Balls sell in the sporting good stores for between $30-$50 each. Our basketballs are selling for $20.00 each. If you are thinking of a Basketball for your child for christmas this is a great gift. Anyone instrested can contact Anthony De Sapio at (908) 996-6337
Everyone must now be wondering why the basketball league is selling off their basketballs. In 2009 the Kingwood Basketball will unveil a new image. The Kingwood Basketball league has been in dire need to replace its basketballs some of them are nine years old. We have been replacing some each year but it seems that we have been swimming against the tide. Some of the new balls we have purchased have disappeared. To solve this problem we have ordered new red & white balls with our leagues name on them which should be in sometime after Christmas.
Frenchtown/ Kingwood Basketball
In the 1960's Kingwood did not have a school that went all the way to 8th grade. Our Middle School Students 6-8 Grade went Frenchtown School. Kingwood and Frenchtown were a good mix even then. Overall Record 13-2. They had a really great Coach it is a person who was involved then in the community and is still involved today. Check out the Coach. It is our referee Chick Cosover.
Walk Down Memory Lane
This is our leagues 10th year. It is a special year since it is the year that the children who were on our first Kindergarten team are now in High School and no longer in our program.
