New Player Evaluation Night To Be Held Monday, September 12, 2016
Any league registrants who did not play in the KWWRHL during the 2015-2016 season are expected to attend new player evaluation night on Monday, September 12. This is a one-hour pickup session designed to give the league administration an idea of your playing level so that we can correctly place players while attempting to set up teams as evenly as possible. If you are new to our league and have registered or if you did not play last season, please plan on attending this event. You will be contacted with further details in late August.
Congratulatons to the 2015-2016 Team Spirit Award Winners, Team 1 - Jenni Does Designs
Congratulations to Team 1 - Jenni Does Designs for winning this season's Team Spirit Award. The Team Spirit Award is given to the team who best exemplifies the spirit of the league through sportsmanship and camaraderie as voted on by all teams.
2016-2017 Registration Forms Now Available
April 3, 2016
The registration forms for the 2016-2017 season are now available. Please note that at this time, we are only able to take payment by cheque as we do not have online payment options.
To find the appropriate form (goalie or skater), go to the link below, review the registration notes, and find the link to the form you need at the bottom.
The cost for the season per players is $375.00 for skaters and $210.00 for goalies. We only take individual registrations and we divide players between teams in a draft.
Each team plays 34 games during the season. A team's schedule will have them playing almost all Mondays and more than half of Saturdays between September and April.
Our next season will begin in September 2016.
Policy for Games Without Two Goaltenders
Please note the following procedure, approved by the League executive on Aug. 26, 2015 regarding games where at least one team does not have a goaltender present.
League Sponsors Needed!
Our league could not provide the great hockey experience for women in our area without funding help from our sponsors!
Each sponsor gets their company name on one team's jerseys, and the team is actually called by that sponsor's name to increase recognition. We also provide a tax receipt and advertise and link to our sponsors on our website, as you can see to the left of the screen here.
The cost to sponsor a team is $500 per season, and it is a great way to promote women's hockey as well as your company's services. If you are interested in sponsoring, please contact Chrissy Degen, the league Vice President, through the contact form in the links to the left.
GAME CANCELLATIONS DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
The KWWRHL very rarely cancels league games due to weather conditions. Any time you feel that weather conditions are not safe for you to travel to the arena for a scheduled game, you should stay home.
In the unlikely event that there is a cancellation, it will be because the City of Waterloo (Mondays) or the City of Kitchener (Saturdays) has closed city facilities including arenas. If either city does decide to close the arenas, we will post this on the home page of our website and our Facebook page by 5:30 pm on Mondays and by 3 pm on Saturdays. You can also call the arenas at any time on a game night to find out if the facility is open.
How much do you know about your CARHA league insurance?
There are a lot of questions about what the medical insurance for league players does and does not cover. For example, did you know that you have no dental injury coverage through our CARHA insurance if you are not wearing a mouthguard?
To learn more, check out the Insurance section of our website (in the menu to the left) and the linked CARHA document there that explains it all!
