Welcome to the home of the

Welcome to the KWWRHL web site! The goal of this site is twofold: to keep all of our members informed about league events while providing necessary information to those that are interested in learning more about our league.

Please feel free to explore our site and send us any questions or comments that you may have concerning this site or the league itself.

Canadian Women's Hockey League Game in Waterloo, Saturday, October 25

On Saturday, October 25, the Canadian Women's Hockey League, in partnership with Waterloo Girls Minor Hockey,  will be hosting a regular season game at RIM Park in Waterloo between the Brampton Thunder and the Toronto Furies.  The game starts at 5:30 PM in the Piller's Arena.
The City of Kitchener was not able to give us ice time for that evening for unrelated reasons, and so there are no KWWRHL league games scheduled this night.  This is a great opportunity for you to catch some of the top women's players in the world and see some amazing hockey.  Also, the Toronto and Brampton teams have a long and storied rivalry.  Many Olympic players and Canadian and US national team players, past and present, are on the rosters of these teams, such as Courtney Birchard, Natalie Spooner, Tessa Bonhomme, Laura Fortino, Sami Jo Small, Jocelyne LaRocque, and Megan Bozek.
The tickets to the game are regularly $15, but we have negotiated a $10 ticket price for members of our league.  The $10 dollar price is only available with advance purchase.
To order tickets at this price, you must e-mail Clive Smith at  with KWWRHL in the subject line and the number of tickets requested and your name in the body of the message.  Clive will then confirm the order with you, and you will pay for the tickets and pick them up at RIM Park on the night of the game.  Payment for the tickets must be cheque (payable to WGMHA) or cash only.  You can also contact Clive with any questions.
For this event, we are allowing and encouraging our attendees to wear their league jerseys to promote our league and show that the KWWRHL supports the CWHL.  Consider having a group of your players attend together as a team social event!

KWWRHL Charity Tournament--December 5-7

Once again this year, the Kitchener-Waterloo Women's Recreational Hockey League is sponsoring a charity women's rec tournament on the first weekend of December, Dec. 5-7, with most games being played on the 6th and 7th.  All games will be played at the Cambridge Sports Park in Cambridge, ON.

Teams from within the KWWRHL and from outside the league are welcome to register. The cost will be $800 per team and covers four games guaranteed. The organizers will do their best to place teams in divisions based on equivalent skill levels.

To register your team, or if you have any questions, e-mail KWWRHL Vice President Chrissy Degen at or KWWRHL Technical Director Carrie Dietrich at As we only have space for 14 teams and this tournament is known to fill quickly, registration is first-come, first-served. A deposit or full payment will secure your team’s spot.

Proceeds from the team registrations will go to the designated charity, as will money raised from the tournament raffle ticket sales. We are accepting and asking for donations for prizes for the raffle table. You can also contact Chrissy or Carrie if you have items to donate.

Remember, this is a tournament that is about fun and sportsmanship. There is no trophy or winning team--the winners are women's hockey and our sponsored charity.

Details about this year’s selected charity will be announced soon.

We are full for the 2014-2015 season!

August 16, 2014

We are now full for the upcoming season.  However, we do maintain a waitlist.  To join the waitlist, follow the instructions on this site to send in your registration form.  You do not need to send a cheque to be added to the waitlist--we will require payment when and if a space becomes available.

The KWWRHL very rarely cancels league games due to weather conditions.  Any time you feel that weather conditions are not safe for you to travel to the arena for a scheduled game, you should stay home.

In the unlikely event that there is a cancellation, it will be because the City of Waterloo (Mondays) or the City of Kitchener (Saturdays) has closed city facilities including arenas.  If either city does decide to close the arenas, we will post this on the home page of our website and our Facebook page by 5:30 pm on Mondays and by 3 pm on Saturdays.  You can also call the arenas at any time on a game night to find out if the facility is open.

How much do you know about your CARHA league insurance?

There are a lot of questions about what the medical insurance for league players does and does not cover.  For example, did you know that you have no dental injury coverage through our CARHA insurance if you are not wearing a mouthguard?

To learn more, check out the Insurance section of our website (in the menu to the left) and the linked CARHA document there that explains it all!
