KWWRHL Charity Tournament--December 5-7

Once again this year, the Kitchener-Waterloo Women's Recreational Hockey League is sponsoring a charity women's rec tournament on the first weekend of December, Dec. 5-7, with most games being played on the 6th and 7th.  All games will be played at the Cambridge Sports Park in Cambridge, ON.

This year's designated charities are The Grand River Regional Cancer Centre and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).  Proceeds from the tournament will be split evenly between these two organizations.

Teams from within the KWWRHL and from outside the league are welcome to register. The cost will be $800 per team and covers four games guaranteed. The organizers will do their best to place teams in divisions based on equivalent skill levels.

To register your team, or if you have any questions, e-mail KWWRHL Vice President Chrissy Degen at or KWWRHL Technical Director Carrie Dietrich at As we only have space for 14 teams and this tournament is known to fill quickly, registration is first-come, first-served. A deposit or full payment will secure your team’s spot.

Proceeds from the team registrations will go to the designated charities, as will money raised from the tournament raffle ticket sales. We are accepting and asking for donations for prizes for the raffle table. You can also contact Chrissy or Carrie if you have items to donate.

Remember, this is a tournament that is about fun and sportsmanship. There is no trophy or winning team--the winners are women's hockey and our sponsored charities.

We are full for the 2014-2015 season!

August 16, 2014

We are now full for the upcoming season.  However, we do maintain a waitlist.  To join the waitlist, follow the instructions on this site to send in your registration form.  You do not need to send a cheque to be added to the waitlist--we will require payment when and if a space becomes available.

The KWWRHL very rarely cancels league games due to weather conditions.  Any time you feel that weather conditions are not safe for you to travel to the arena for a scheduled game, you should stay home.

In the unlikely event that there is a cancellation, it will be because the City of Waterloo (Mondays) or the City of Kitchener (Saturdays) has closed city facilities including arenas.  If either city does decide to close the arenas, we will post this on the home page of our website and our Facebook page by 5:30 pm on Mondays and by 3 pm on Saturdays.  You can also call the arenas at any time on a game night to find out if the facility is open.

How much do you know about your CARHA league insurance?

There are a lot of questions about what the medical insurance for league players does and does not cover.  For example, did you know that you have no dental injury coverage through our CARHA insurance if you are not wearing a mouthguard?

To learn more, check out the Insurance section of our website (in the menu to the left) and the linked CARHA document there that explains it all!
