Spring League - Adult Recreation Roller Hockey
This spring, the LYHL will be organizing a recreation season for adults.
A second and final registration session for this new season will be held on Wednesday May 2, 2012 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Lyndhurst Parks Department (250 Cleveland Avenue, Lyndhurst, NJ).
Here are the guidelines... • All players must be at least 18 years of age on or before May 1, 2012 to be eligible. The registration fee for Lyndhurst residents is $75, and $90 for non-residents. • The regular season will consist of eight games plus playoffs. Games will be played on Wednesday evenings throughout May and June. There may be some evenings where teams will play a double-header. • Each game will consist of three 15:00-minute running time periods. Stop-time will be initiated for the final 3:00 minutes of the game provided the goal differential is 2 or fewer. If needed, overtime will consist of one 5:00-minute period. • Games will be played four-on-four with goaltenders using inline rules (no icing, no offside). Games will be played with a ball (no pucks). • Each team will have one captain and name no more than two alternate captains. While teams are expected to coach themselves, these captains will be the representatives of each team to the on-rink officials and the league. • Every player is responsible for his or her own equipment and jersey(s). • Players are encouraged to wear visors or cages, shoulder pads or padded shirts, and padded girdles, but these items are optional. • HECC-approved helmets, mouthguards, elbow pads, gloves, protective cups, hockey shin guards, skates, and sticks with butt ends are all required. • If so desired, teams may purchase their own matching jerseys from a third-party supplier. Teams may also elect to adopt a common color scheme. Otherwise each player should have one white jersey and one black jersey for every game. • Since this is a spring recreation league, fighting will not be tolerated. Any player engaging in a fight will be suspended for the remainder of the season. Other on-rink incidents (physical and verbal) will be immediately addressed by the referees and reviewed by the league for further discipline. • Due to township ordinance, alcohol and tobacco are prohibited within the rink complex on Sparta Drive.

Remembering James DeMuro
On August 10, 2011, the Lyndhurst Youth Hockey League lost a good friend of the program. James DeMuro was a dedicated coach of recreation and travel teams from 1997-2006. An avid fan of hockey and giving of his free time, Jimmy coached all of his boys in the program as well as many other young players over the years. Our condolences to his children and family, he will certainly be missed.
You can view his obituary and leave a kind message here: James DeMuro Obituary
Remembering Our Friend Felicia
Felicia was never the type to want or seek acclaim for all the great work she did with the league. If you have ever had breakfast at the rink on a Saturday morning, or just picked up a cold drink from the concession stand, then you know how big a role she played in making sure each an every season ran smoothly. Also, her and her brother’s restaurant, Vitale’s, always purchased a board sign and sponsored a team.
Felicia was a key part of our program’s growth over the past few years, because without her help – and the help of everyone who volunteered their time in the concession stand – we wouldn’t have had the funds needed for referees, equipment, or the awards dinner each and every season.
Felicia’s dedication and contributions to our program will never be forgotten. On behalf of all the players and friends of the Lyndhurst Youth Hockey League, we want to say ‘thank you’ one last time.
We miss you…

In lieu of flowers, the Roveda Family has asked that donations be made in Felicia's name to the American Cancer Society.
