Meet the McCallum Basketball Coaches:
Coach Don Caldwell
Coach Caldwell is the Varsity basketball coach. He is in his 42nd year of teaching for the Knights. He is in his 40th year of coaching for McCallum. Coach Caldwell is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University with a degree in Business and Education. He and his wife Dorothy have been married 20 years and they have 1 grandchild.
Coach Daniel Fuentes
Coach Fuentes is the Junior Varsity basketball coach. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in Spanish. He is in his 17th year of teaching and coaching and this will be his 15th at McCallum. He coached Varsity football for 13th years. He coached Varsity receivers and safeties. He was also the special teams coordinator. He also spent two years at Smithville where he coached football, basketball and track. He and his wife Gaby have been married for 19 years and have 2 daughters named Giselle (9) and Yesenia (15).
Coach Quincy Stewart
Coach Stewart is the Freshman basketball coach. He is also the special teams coordinator and linebackers coach for our McCallum Knights football team. He has six years coaching experience, which includes: running backs coach, special team’s coordinator and strength and conditioning coordinator for Spring Woods High School in Houston; linebackers coach at Texas College in Tyler; and he also coached at LBJ High School in Austin. He was a member of the 1994 State Championship football team at John Tyler High School in Tyler. Coach Stewart is a graduate of Louisiana Tech and played linebacker for the Bulldogs. He played four years in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers. He also played in the Canadian Football League where he won the Gray Cup in 2005. In addition, he also played with the Austin Wranglers in 2007. He and his wife, Gladys, have been married for 12 years and have three daughters: Frankie (4) and twins Justice and Raina (2).
