Revised Composite Bat Rules
May 12, 2011 – 03:15 PM —
Pennsylvania American Legion Baseball changed it's position on composite bats to read "Bats with BBCOR that have composite handles are legal for 2011"
New Bat Rules Are A Big Issue For 2011 Season
April 1, 2011 – 10:40 AM —
A new bat rule for American Legion is in effect for 2011. There is a 2 prong test to determine if a bat is legal: 1) If the word "composite" is anywhere on the bat, it is illegal. 2) If not, then look for the designation "BESR -3". If there, the bat is legal. If not, it is illegal.
Unfortunately, this rule was established in March and thus has only been communicated down the line in the last 2 weeks. As commissioner, I apologize for the late notice. I'm sure many bats have been purchased without this knowledge.
High Schools are dealing with the same regulation this Spring.
