Tristan Amato drove in four runs on two hits to lead Malverne Mustangs 9U past the East Williston Wildcats, 12-6 on Saturday at Devlin Field. Tristan singled in the fourth inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the fifth inning, scoring two.
A double by Jack Snoozy put Malverne Mustangs 9U on the board in the top of the second.
East Williston captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the third when Jake M singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.
The Mustangs flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 7-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Bryce Kelly that drove in three.
Caden Hunt earned the win for Malverne. The lefty surrendered one hit and two runs over two innings, striking out five and walking four. Tristan stepped on the hill first for Malverne Mustangs 9U. The starter gave up three hits and three runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking three. Connor Olwell appeared in relief for the Mustangs, allowing one run in one inning of work.
Malverne accumulated 10 hits in the game. Bryce, Tristan, and Kirk Sendlein each collected two hits for Malverne Mustangs 9U. Lane Ali and Ethan Bisnauth each stole multiple bases for the Mustangs. Malverne stole 10 bases in the game.
The Mustangs will travel to Lynbrook Knights for their next game on Saturday, Sept. 13.
