Turkey hunters take frozen turkeys
November 6, 2005 — The city of Oxnard was the host of the 37th Annual Turkey 1-pitch Tourney. The teams consisted of the following: Molosos, Second Wind, Last Hurrah, R&R Pumping, Just For Fun, Wild Cards, West Coast Sluggers & Master Batters. The teams came to battle it out. Winner take the title and the turkeys.

Master Batters held strong in a reduced SCMAF "Rec" Divsion to take the Turkey 1-pitch Tourney. As the lone representative of The Simi Valley/L.A. County, Master Batters had a tough schedule. We started off with a 6-5 loss to the Wildcards. The next game saw us take on the The Last Hurrah team. We started out slow but managed to overcome the rover (extra infielder) and slowly destroyed Last Hurrah. Master Batters took out the next opponent, Just For fun. From there it was all fun for the Master Batters as they win easily 16-2. With a 2-1 record on Saturday they advanced to the double elimination round on Sunday.

As the Wildcards keep rolling along with a 5-0 record, The Master Batters started their hot bats early. They destroyed R&R Pumping.
On their next game, The MB's (Master Batters) had a tougher challenge against the team from Camarillo, Second Wind. But manage to come back to win 14-11. With back to back wins it set up a rematch with the Wildcards and the Master Batters. It started off with a slow defensive game but the Master Batters pulled an ace up their sleeves and won the game convincingly 9-3. With that loss it moved the Wildcards to the losers bracket to face Second Wind.

As the 2 teams battle it out, the Master Batters took a break from softball, and watch the Wildcards take on Second Wind. It wasn't much of a game. Second Wind took out the Wildcards thus eliminating them from the Championship game.

So it was Second Wind and the Master Batters in the Championship game. It figure it would be a close game. However with the hot bats of
the Master Batters and their 6 game winning streak, they were able to soundly defeated Second Wind 11-7. Therefore taking their 2nd Turkey title in 7 years. Congrats to the Master Batters.

Welcome To Our Site
November 11, 2004 – 02:25 AMHello to all you softball ballers!

Welcome to our official site and the home of the Simi Valley Master Batters. Formerly named the Ruff Rydas, these players, (who most of us use to work at Sport Chalet), began in 1996 as softball league team in Northridge.

Now we just only play 1 tourney. Thats the Oxnard 1-pitch tourney. Every year in November, we take the time from our busy lives and schedules to play in one of Oxnard's oldest tourney. We are pretty unpredicatable. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. But we give it a lot of effort and fly by the seat of our pants.

Best of Friends!
