Sandlot($105.00)...New Division for Players that have played one year of t-ball during our spring intramural program...Coach Pitch.....Player to play in this division, should be capable of hitting a pitched ball ....if the registration numbers cannot sustain this new level, 6 year olds will be placed in t-ball or Rookies, based on age and ratings...
Rookies($105.00)...For 7 & 8 year olds...Coach Pitch.....
AA($125.00)........8 & 9 year olds....advanced 8 year olds can play in AA, provided their 2008 ratings warrant it..A 10 year old can play AA, upon parent request..Check box on Reg form that applies, '10 year old playing AA'..
AAA($125.00)......10 & 11 year olds...9 Year olds are Not permitted in this division....
Majors($125.00).....11 & 12 year olds...IMPORTANT NOTE..Little League National requires all 12's to be placed in this division.. .Additionally, they mandate that we only have 10 teams...As a result, many 11 year olds that register for the Majors, will be placed into the AAA Division following the Draft...For a 12 year old to play AAA, a parent MUST check the appropriate box on the reg form and fill out a waiver..
Juniors($135.00).....13 & 14 year olds....This past season, this division was met with great success with our new 6 inning format, as opposed to the past when we played 7 innings...
In addition, the Massapequa Chiefs school baseball progarm has lifted their no pitch policy for 7th & 8th grade school ball players. School position players will now be allowed to pitch limited innings on a weekly basis to afford opportunities to those that want to pitch and give each of the teams greater pitching depth.
Seniors($135.00).....15 & 16 year olds....Will play inter-league with the Massapequa International Little League
Big Leagues($150.00)....17 & 18 year olds...Season starts 1st week of June...

Division 1 College Baseball Teams to Square Off Oct. 2 at Burns Park
Friday, 18 September 2009 07:13
The Town of Oyster Bay will host the Supervisor’s Trophy Game, an NCAA Division 1 College Baseball Showdown, at John J. Burns Town Park on Merrick Road in Massapequa on Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m., according to Supervisor John Venditto. The contest, featuring NCAA powers New York Institute of Technology and Hofstra University, will showcase some the area’s best baseball talent. Admission is free.
The game, which will be hosted by the Massapequa Coast Little League, will feature a family barbecue prior to the game, a free youth clinic featuring college coaches and players from both teams as well as former New York Yankee Rusty Torres at 4:30 p.m. and a Home Run Derby beginning at 5:30 p.m. The home run derby will feature power hitters from both Hofstra University and the New York Institute of Technology.
“This special event is a great way to celebrate America’s favorite pastime and the positive effect the game has on a local level,” Venditto said. “The day’s activities offer something for everyone. Best of all, the entire family can enjoy a great baseball game for free. The game also draws attention to outstanding youth baseball organizations like the Massapequa Coast Little League, which offer participants healthy athletic activity in a team structured and educational environment.”
Venditto continued, “Baseball is one of Long Island’s most popular youth participation activities and this game coming to the Town represents the widespread appeal of the sport. It should be very popular with local residents who enjoy seeing baseball played at a very high level.”
According to the supervisor, the collegiate game will also serve as a fine example for the Town’s young baseball players, who can one day aspire to further their education through athletics.
“These Division I programs offer youngsters excellent academic and athletic opportunities.” Venditto said. “We’re proud to host and support this event, which not only provides a healthy outlet for participants, but will entertain sports fans from all over the town.”
Venditto also commended the staff of the town’s parks department for their ongoing efforts to maintain the Town’s outstanding parks and facilities. “It’s no secret in the local sports community that the town’s fields are among the finest in the nation,” he said. “The fact that the Hofstra Pride and the New York Institute of Technology Bears are playing on them is testament to that fact. I feel it is truly a compliment when NCAA Division 1 athletic programs play on our facility. They feature some of the finest athletes in the country.”
Venditto said he is looking forward to the supervisor’s Trophy Game on Oct. 2. “It will be an outstanding event and I’m proud to be hosting them here in the Town of Oyster Bay. I hope the residents will come out and support these two outstanding schools,” he said.
