FALL SPORTS INFORMATIONAL MEETING ON MAY 17TH
There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, May 17th at 7:00 pm in the Memorial Auditorium for current 6th and 7th grade students and their parents who are interested in going out for a fall sport. These sports are football, cross country and volleyball. Cheerleading will already be holding clinics and tryouts before the end of the school year.
The meeting will have two parts: first Mr. Jeckel, Athletic Director will cover a variety of topics that parents need to know. Topics to be covered are final forms, physicals, eligibility, pay to participate, student-athlete behavior, athletic code of conduct, insurance, communication protocol, equipment responsibility, attendance at practices, injuries, PTA concessions, playing time, admissions, GCC League and parent volunteers.
The second part will be for each fall sport to break off into a separate meeting to go over practice/tryout start dates, expectations, practice times for August and any summer workouts or camps that will be held for that specific sport.
We have found that it is more important for parents to attend this meeting since the information that we will talk about is important for them to know. If you cannot attend the meeting you may contact the coach of the sport you would like information about by email. Here are the emails for each sport

CONCESSION HELP FOR FALL SPORTS
The Memorial PTA needs parents to volunteer to help at the concession stand for the Fall Season. We are asking each parent to sign up for one 1 hour shift.
In order for football parents to watch their child play we would like football parents to help at home volleyball games which are on Tuesday or Thursday. The same for volleyball parents, we are asking volleyball parents to help at home football games on Wednesday's.
Please contact Debi Cole who is our PTA President to sign up. email@example.com or Dawn Kaderly at firstname.lastname@example.org

A REMINDER THAT ALL STUDENT-ATHLETES MUST DRESS UP ON GAME/MEET DAYS UNLESS THE COACH STATES OTHERWISE (i.e-spirit wear or game jersey). FAILURE TO DO SO CAN RESULT IN NON-PARTICIPATION IN THAT GAME/MEET!
GAMES/MEETS AT SHORE, RIDGE, MENTOR HS OR GARFIELD PARK
When traveling to Ridge, Shore, Mentor HS or Garfield Park for a game/meet there will not be a return bus back to Memorial. All student-athletes are expected to be picked up at the game/meet site. The only exception to this rule is for football because of equipment issues. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Jeckel via email at email@example.com
“...While great pride is taken in winning, we can not condone winning at all costs and discourage any and all pressures, which might tend to neglect good sportsmanship. At all times, any student activity must be conducted in a way as to justify it as an educational activity.” - Mentor Schools Co-curricular Handbook.
