Being a board member is about creating an environment to develop our youth into tomorrow’s leaders. What we strive to do at MMYB as a board is to make a positive impactful in our children through baseball. Baseball teaches our children not only the fundamentals of the game but sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, failure and success, which will transcend beyond the field. None of that is possible without a Board of Directors who create and oversee the everyday functions of the league.
Responsibilities of the board:
1. Planning and development of policy 2. Community and organizational development 3. Fundraising and support development
DOES IT REQUIRE A LOT OF TIME?
Yes & No. While some positions have more responsibilities than others, we work as a team and the more help we have the less work everyone has to do. We attend a monthly board meeting and work on small committees to accomplish big tasks such as schedules and events.
Our league is made up of volunteers, most of us work full time jobs, coach and manage teams, and have kids who play multiple sports. However, we volunteer because we want to make a difference and have a commitment to all of the kids who play in our league to provide the best possible experience.
WHAT POSITIONS ARE OPEN AND THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES
ALL board positions are up for re-election, so EVERY vote counts.

In conjunction with USA Baseball and its other participating national member organizations, PONY Baseball has adopted the new USA Baseball bat standard (USABat). Effective January 1, 2018, with the exception of -3 (BBCOR certified), all other minus factor bats (-5, -7, -9, etc.), must be YBBCOR certified with the USABat licensing stamp on the bat in order to be used for league and tournament play. Minus factor bats -5, -7, -9, etc. used in 2017 will be illegal to use in 2018.
The new YBBCOR certified bats bearing the USABat licensing mark are expected to be offered in retail stores in September.
