Mississauga North presents The Rally Cap Program
The Long Term Athletic Development model of Sport Canada is a 7 stage training, competetion and recovery pathway guiding an individual's experience with sport from infancy through all stages of adulthood.
The beginning stages of ACTIVE START and FUNDAMENTALS are focussed on the development of non-sport specific motor skills as well as basic sport specific fundamentals.
Baseball Canada has produced a comprehensive program called Rally Cap to meet the criteria of these stages.
The goals of Rally Cap are to:
- Create an environement in which young children and adults can have fun with baseball.
- Teach baseball skills, rules and strategy.
- Model and teach competitiveness with an emphasis on good sportsmanship.
- Promote increased self-esteem amond Rally Cap players and parent coaches.
Beginning in 2013, T Ball and Rookie Ball will use the Rally Cap Program. A revised structure to the regular 2 playing days will be introduced. Here is a list of some of those changes:
- Fewer players per team gives everyone more opportunities at hitting and playing infield.
- 3 teams will rotate through a game and practice at each diamond on every game day.
- Standings will not be used during the season.
- Structured practices in the outfield will teach fundamentals through fun, competitive sports.
THINGS THAT WILL NOT CHANGE:
- Each team will play a game on every game day.
- There will be playoffs at the end of the year with 1 team declared Division Champion (Except Jr T Ball)
- Rookie Ball players will still hit off pitching machine while T Ball players use Tee.
