For the spring we offer the following sports:
We offer coed T-ball for 3-4 year old boys and girls and coed Coach Pitch Baseball for 5-6 year old boys and girls. Both of these age groups use a safety core baseball with an emphasis on fun, developing fundamental skills, and developing a love for the game. Our next age group is 7-8 year old boys. 7-8 year old boys baseball is played using a Louisville Slugger Ultimate Pitching Machine. In this age group, the players will learn fundamental skills and begin to learn how the game is played in a healthy competitive environment.
Boys aged 9-10 years old will transition to kid pitch baseball with progression of skills and rules of the game. 11-12 year old boys make the transition to playing baseball under regular baseball rules on a smaller field (50 foot mound, 70 foot bases). Our 13-15 year old and 16-18 year old age groups will start later in the season and will play on a regulation size field (60 foot mound, 90 foot bases).
Our 7-12 year old programs are sanctioned under Cal Ripken and our 13-18 year old programs are sanctioned under Babe Ruth.
There will be no skill evaluations for our T-ball (3-4 year olds) and Coach Pitch (5-6 year olds) age groups. Skill evaluations for our 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12 year old boys will be on Saturday, March 7 at Huffman Park. Skill evaluations for our 13-18 year old boys will be held on Saturday, April 18 at Huffman Park.
For girls, we offer softball for ages 7-12. Our 7-8 year olds will play using the Louisville Slugger Ultimate Pitching Machine. Our 7-8 year old age group will focus on learning the basic fundamentals of softball and learning the rules of the game in a healthy competitive environment. Our 9-10 year and 11-12 year old girls will play kid pitch softball. Our softball program is sanctioned under Babe Ruth.
Skill evaluations for our 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12 year old girls will be on Saturday, March 7 at Huffman Park.

Winter Baseball Camp at Mountain View Recreation
October 23, 2014
This winter, Mountain View Recreation is offering a Winter Baseball Training Camp. The camp will begin on November 1st and run through the winter up to the start of the Spring Baseball season. The goal of the camp is to help children learn proper form and techniques in throwing, batting and fielding in baseball. The camp will be split into two age groups. The first group will be for children that are now playing or will be playing machine pitch baseball in the coming spring. The second group will be for kid pitch players. Both groups will focus on the fundamentals of baseball and proper technique. The older group will also include focus on pitching, catching, stealing bases, and sharpening the core skills.
The camp is offered at no cost to players.
Age Groups/Camp Dates
Machine Pitch (Age 7-8)
Sundays from 2:00 - 3:30 PM beginning on November 2, 2014
Kid Pitch (Age 9-12)
Saturdays from 1:00 - 2:30 PM beginning on November 1, 2014
By the end of this camp, the expectation is that the boys will be coming into the spring baseball assessment ready to play and with an improved skill set and knowledge of the game. It is very hard to get boys ready to play when there are so many on a team and so little time to get them ready for games. Hopefully, this offseason camp can help teach where in the regular season time is limited.
Todd Jenkins will be heading up the machine pitch group and Andrew Lail will head up the kid pitch group.
The camp will try to work around the winter sports so that everyone can take advantage of the camp. If you miss a Saturday, we can work on some fundamentals on Sunday, or vice-versa. Since it will be running for such a long span, anyone can come in at any point and we will work with them to get them up to speed.
