Coaches please click on link below to review the attached concession stand schedule for our upcoming season.  The assigned team is required to have 6-8 adults for their shift.  The assigned shift time is noted on the schedule and is typically 30 minutes prior to the first game of the evening.  A board member will be present at all shifts to run the cash register and to familiarize everyone with the equipment.  Also, note that if a team does not show for their shift, the Head Coach will be suspended for their next game.

2018 BASEBALL BATS UPDATE

Below is the verbiage from the PONY.org website detailing the new bat rules for the 2018 Season.  However, the MVYBA Board has decided to waive this rule for the 2018 Season and allow bats that were used during the 2017 Season to be allowed for the 2018 Season.  However, this one year waiver only applies to our regular season.  Thus it is recommended any new bat purchase utilize the new bat rules.  Also, any bat used during All Star or Tournament play must abide by the following rule:

In conjunction with USA Baseball and its other participating national member organizations, PONY Baseball has adopted the new USA Baseball bat standard (USABat). Effective January 1, 2018, with the exception of -3 (BBCOR certified), all other 2 1/4" and 2 5/8" barrel bats with a minus factor of (-5, -7, -9, etc.), must be USABat certified with the USABat licensing stamp on the bat in order to be used for league and tournament play. All 2 1/4" and 2 5/8" minus factor bats -5, -7, -9, etc. used in 2017 will be illegal to use in 2018.

Tee ball bats are not required to undergo lab testing to receive approval under the USABat program. However, to be approved for play, tee ball bats must carry the USA Baseball mark accompanied by the following text: "Only For Use With Approved Tee Ball Bats." If you already have a tee ball bat you would like to continue using, all you have to do is purchase a USA Bat sticker directly from USA Baseball and place it on your bat. Tee ball bats manufactured after the new rule was adopted will already include the USABat Baseball mark.

The new USABat certified bats bearing the USABat licensing mark are expected to be offered in retail stores September 1, 2017.

2018 MVYBA LEAGUE AGE CHANGES

During the 2016 PONY International Board of Directors meeting, a decision was reached to change the date for determining player eligibility from April 30 to August 31. The rule change will take effect at the start of the 2018 PONY Baseball season. This decision was reached after careful consideration of input from leagues, parents, coaches and other sources important in the decision-making process. By making our program younger, all players will be competing on a level playing field. This change will ensure all PONY participants will play in their true age group.

This rule change only affects PONY Baseball.  The date for determining player eligibility for PONY Softball remains as December 31.  Please review the Age Key below to determine your players age division.
