NJABL Announces 2012 Expansion Franchises
January 23, 2012
The NJABL is pleased to announce that 3 new teams were accepted as members of the league for the 2012 season. The Rockland Royals, Belleville Rays and Hackensack Hurricanes all met the new team criteria and were unanimously voted to enter the league.
The Rockland Royals Baseball Organization has been competing since 2004 in travel, Tournament and League play. Under the leadership of manager Vinny Randazzo, the Royals started as a 14U team and have moved up to the 18 and older College division over the past three seasons. In eight years of play the Royals have compiled 241 wins and 159 losses averaging 30 wins a season with 4 Tournament Championships and one League title. The Royals are excited to join the NJABL in 2012.
The Belleville Rays are entering their 5th season as a team and chose to apply to the NJABL because we are seeking a more structure and highly competitive league. The Rays are comprised mainly of 18-25 year olds who are currently in college or were former college players. Rays manager, Dave Caruso stated "We have the drive and determination to compete at high levels and have the goal of winning the NJABL Championship". We wish the best of luck to all of the other teams and are excited for a highly competitive and fun season! The Hackensack Hurricanes are led by Jay Alcivar and Evans Roche. The Hurricanes will preach the strong core values of team as family and consist of players that have been together since their high school days, along with friends and family of the program who currently play within the ranks of Divison 1 baseball to Independent professional baseball. The main focus is to build a foundation and to grow from there as well as reaching out to the community and giving opportunities to elite players who don't have the exposure as some other programs do. The Canes are extremely grateful to be apart of the NJABL and look forward to a successful inaugural season.
