Ludicrous Sunday!!!

July 20, 2014

With a full slate of games played today, one would have figured that the playoff picture would have gotten a bit more clearer. Throw that theory out the window as there are only a few certainties. West Milford and Bergen Pirates will not be in the playoffs and Park Ridge, who didn't play today, locked up the 6 spot. Other then that, the Regular Season Title and automatic bid to the Regionals is still up for grabs.  West Milford beats Wyckoff, Pearl River knocks off Paramus, Fair Lawn sweeps Rutherford, Englewood out slugs Nyack and Royals and Astros split. Just another normal day in the NJABL.

Slots 1-5 are far from decided as the Royals sit in the 4 spot with a possibilty of sliding back to 5. Nyack is done, and sitting in 1st place with 41 points. Wyckoff has 40 points with 2 games remaining. Englewood has 39 points with 3 games remaining. Paramus has 35 points with either 2 or 3 games remaining. Rockland is done with 36 points and awaits to see how Paramus finishes.

Confused? Thats only the top 5 teams, still fighting for the Regular Season Title.

As we said, Park Ridge is locked in 6th spot with 30 points and 2 games remaining.

7-8-9-10 gets even crazier

Lyndhurst has 26 points with 1 game left on schedule (possibly 2), Fair Lawn's schedule is complete with 25 points while Rutherford has 25 points with 2 games remaining. Astros have 21 points with 3 games on their schedule. Little Ferry has 18 points with a DH Monday, and games Tue & Wed. Pearl River has 18 points with 2 games scheduled and Hackensack is on life support with 17 points and 2 games.

One thing is certain, the Regular Season ends Wednesday Night and hopefully we have a clearer picture.

Did someone say coin toss?

July 20, 2014

The Rockland Royals are the first team to complete their schedule, going 18-10 with a split today vs the Rockland Astros. The Astros won game 1 by a score of 5-1 and the Royals come away with a 3-1 victory in game 2. The Royals are most likely looking at a 5 seed going into next weekends playoffs. Meanwhile, the Astros have taken another step forward to securing a playoff spot after early season struggles. Title & playoff spots up for grabs, no one gives an inch

July 18, 2014

As we enter the final weekend of the regular season, one thing is for certain. The title and the final playoff spots are up for grabs and no team is giving an inch. Wyckoff, Englewood, Nyack, Royals and Paramus are all within points of each other, with many facing off this weekend. They all have their eye on the regular season title and an automatic bid to the Regionals in early August.

Park Ridge has clinched a playoff spot and is looking to hold on to a top 6 seed, Rutherford and Lyndhurst are still looking to secure a birth with another win or 2.

Just as interesting is the battle for the final few playoff spots. Astros, Little Ferry and Fair Lawn are batteling for 2 spots. The Pirates and Hurricanes are on life support and need a miracle finish for an outside shot at a playoff birth.

West Milford and the Salty Dogs can make their season with an upset, as they take on the spoiler role.

Mother Nature looks like she will cooperate. Should be an exciting finish!

Little Ferry has climbed back in the mix after early season struggles, while Fair Lawn feels the heat from Pearl River, the Pirates and the Astros who have begun their late season surge. Hackensack and West Milford need to put together a long winning streak to get back in the hunt, otherwise they will look to play the spoiler role. With just over a week to go, the 2014 Season is still up for grabs and every game counts. Don't get caught looking in the rearview mirror!
