Oceanport Baseball Association

There will be a Kick-off Meeting for all parents that are interested in coaching whether indicated on the registration form or not.

The meeting will be held this Thursday at 7:30 pm at Maple Place School.

We are especially encouraging parents who would like to coach at the Rookie level (1st and 2nd grade).

The OBA also has an opening this season for Equipment Manager for anyone interested in helping out.

Dear Parents,


The 2014 Oceanport Baseball Association (OBA) season is about to begin. 
The OBA has made some changes this year based on registrations received and players joining both Shore Regional Little League Baseball and the new Shore Regional Softball League.
Teams and players have been assigned by the OBA to allow the season to begin promptly.
The following levels are being offered this year for boys and girls from Oceanport, West Long Branch and Sea Bright:


Boys & Girls together in Kindergarten ages 5 and 6

4 teams of 10-11 players 
Schedule includes OBA teams vs. OBA teams plus OBA vs. Monmouth Beach teams (TBD)
Players hit off tees and run to first base
Rookie Baseball/Softball
Boys & Girls together in Grades 1-3
6 teams of 9-10 players
Schedule includes OBA teams vs. OBA teams
Coach pitch from 25 feet first half of season
Kid pitch second half of season
no stealing, batter may attempt double if ball hit into outfield on fly
once around batting order per inning max
CAP Baseball
CAP Baseball has been discontinued due to low registration numbers.
2nd Graders have been included with the Rookie Ball teams.
3rd Graders may play on a Rookie Ball team or may register to play baseball with Shore Little League

2014 OBA Updates

Dear Parents,

I would like to update you on the status of the Oceanport Baseball Association (OBA) for the 2014 Season.  The OBA will be making some significant changes this year due to the baseball and softball leagues that we played in has folded and we would have no one to play against.  Due to this fact the changes are as follows:


OBA will still have the following for boys and girls from Oceanport, West Long Branch and Sea Bright:

CAP Baseball - Boys 2nd & 3rd Grade

Rookie Baseball - Boys 1st Grade

Rookie Softball - Girls 1st Grade

T-Ball - Boys & Girls - Must be 5 years old and in Kindergarten


Baseball - OBA is recommending boys 7-14 to play baseball with Shore Little League


Softball - The OBA has partnered with West Long Branch and Monmouth Beach to form Shore Regional Little League Softball (SRLLSB), which will be a sub-division of Shore Regional Little League Baseball (SRLLBB).  SRLLSB will have its own board and will work independently under the SRLLBB Charter.

The Age Groups for SRLLSB are as follows:

7-8 years old

9-10 years old

11-12 years old

13-16 years old

The registration forms will be sent out shortly thru the schools.

Softball Skills Clinic

The Oceanport Baseball Association will be running a Softball Skills Clinic for girls ages 6-12 years old. The clinic will take place at All Sport New Jersey (Ocean, NJ) on Sundays from 1:00pm -2:00pm and will run from February 9th - March 16th.

Foundation to Save the Jersey Shore

Foundation to Save the Jersey Shore is hosting the Taste of the Shore Festival toraise funds to continue provining services and support to those still struggling to recover from Superstorm Sandy.  They are in need of Volunteers to help at the Festival in the Welcome tent, Merchandise tent, Bucket Brigade, Sports & Games.  The Festivale is at the PNC Arts Center parking lot on Saturday August 3rd from 10am to 6pm.  Volunteer shifts are from 10am- 2pm; 2pm-6pm or 10am-6pm.

The Foundation to Save the Jersey Shore has donated a LARGE amount of baseball & softball equipment to the Oceanport Baseball Association and NOW it's time to give back to them.  Please consider volunteering or at least attending the Taste the Shore Festival.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact Robin at




The Oceanport Yankees won the EMSA East Division Championship on Thursday night at the Community Center.  The Yankees defeated the FH Orioles 8-4 behind strong pitching from M. Cammeron, J. Turner and G. Zwerin.  The Yankees offense was provided by G. Goldsmith who had a home run and a double and 4 RBI's, M. Ippilitto and Zwerin also had RBI's

The Yankees will travel to Shrewsbury's Manson Park on Monday 6/24 to take on the undeafeated Shrewsbury Threshers for the EMSA SR. League Championship.  Game time is 6:00

Welcome Monmouth Beach softball and West Long Branch baseball

The Oceanport Baseball Association would like to welcomed Monmouth Beach softball and West Long Branch Baseball recreation programs into our organization.  This means that any Monmouth Beach girls and West Long Branch boys has a place to play softball or baseball.  If anyone knows of any players please make them aware that they can sign up for the OBA.


I would like to thank Chris Petrillo and the Oceanport First Aid Squad for providing first aid kits for all of the fields.

Blackberry Bay Parking

If you have a game or practice at Blackberry Bay, there is no parking beyond the bathrooms. You should park by the pool or on the pavement. The area beyond the bathrooms is reserved for boaters only and the Oceanport Police will write tickets. Please observe this no parking area to avoid any unnecessary conflicts. Thank You.

Practice Schedules

Please be aware that Preseason practice schedules end this weekend. All practices going forward need to be reserved through Mike MacStudy. The game schedules will be up shortly.
