Old Allegheny Soccer was founded more than 20 years ago to provide a positive learning experience so that kids can have fun and learn to play soccer. We offer instructional, in-house recreational, and travel team soccer programs for children ages 5 - 19. Our players come from the the Northside and North Hills neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, although anyone can play, regardless of where they live. Many of our players have gone on to play for their High School teams and for their College teams.

The City League has regular season has ended and the playoffs begin. Both the U-12 and U-15 teams will play in their respective championship games on Sunday November 15th at Schenley Oval. Come out and cheer Old Allegheny on to victory.
City League U-12 Team
In one of the biggest upsets of the year (and maybe the decade), the
4th seeded Old
Allegheny U-12 team beat the undefeated and regular season champions, Elliott on Wednesday (11/04/2009)
in a first round playoff victory by a score of 3-2. Congratulations to the U-12 team and good luck in the championship game. The U-12 Team will
play in the championship game scheduled for Sunday (11/15/2009) at
Schenley Oval Field at 6 PM
City League U-15 Team
Old Allegheny U-15 beat Phillips in a first round playoff
match on Tuesday (11/03/2009) night by a score of 2-0. Old Allegheny was
short a couple of players this game, but managed their best 'team' game of the
year. The first half was worrisome for the home team, especially when the
starting goalie, Nico Gregory, went down when he was kicked in his already
injured knee. Jerome Watts stepped up, filled in as goalie, and got an
excellent defensive effort from his brother James Watts, Shannon Masterson,
Miller Goughenour, and Eric Bauer.
The midfield played a little sluggishly during the first
part of the game but came alive with excellent passing and good solid offensive
and defensive support. Sean Horgan, Nia Miller, Rachel Banze and Tommy
Barnabi all put in 110% effort and it really paid off as we played much of the
second half in Phillips end of the field.
Our front line had included a couple of stints from Nia
Miller, as well as Patrick Banze starting at center forward and Casey Leseman
at left wing and Scout Cheeks, who arrived in time for the second half, playing
at right wing. The extra burst of speed
that Scout gave us seemed to open things up on the offensive end.
Scoring came from good defense. On the first goal,
Miller Goughenour was able to turn the corner on defense and send a nice pace
to midfield. Sean Horgan had a nice touch, sending it wide to Scout
Cheeks. Scout crossed the ball to a Casey, who stayed wide of the left
post and wound up scoring the game winner.
The second goal started with James Watts making a great
defensive stop and forcing the ball out of bounds in the ensuing scrum.
Eric Bauer took the throw-in and Tommy Barnabi was able to convert with an
accurate and pretty shot to the far back post.
The U-15 goes on to the Championship Game, scheduled for
Sunday (11/15/2009) at Schenley Oval Field at 7:30 PM.
A League Champs 2009 October 31, 2009
Fans, coaches and players were treated to a great morning of soccer today.
The first game, between A4 Kasunick Welding (Red) and A2 Breadworks (Gold) was hotly contested. A1 opened an early lead on but A4 came back strong and looked as if they were on their way to victory. A2 mounted a comeback and at the end of the second half, the game was knotted by a score of 6-6. Next came the direct kicks. A4 put two kicks into the net and A2 had no answer, so A4 went on to win 8-6.
In the championship game, A1 Harv's (Blue) battled A3 Parkvale (Green) in a muddy and wet match and came out on top by a score of 6-0. Several excellent shots by A3 were just wide of the net, but they never gave up.
The final playoff results were:
1st Place A1 Harv's (Blue)
2nd Place A4 Parkvale (Green)
3rd Place A4 Kasunick Welding (Red)
4th Place A3 Breadworks (Gold)
All of the players and coaches are to be congratulated on a wonderful and exciting season. The kids and coaches worked hard and almost every player improved during the season. It was great to see that hard work payoff in an exciting playoff series.
B-League Champs 2009 October 31, 2009
The early consolation games were played in the rainy and sloppy conditions at Brighton Heights Field. After the consolation games, the championship game was held.
The regular season first place team B3 Black played B2 Heard Funeral Home (Maroon). B3 had excellent spacing and defended the goal well, but B2 had some early chances on breakaway opportunities. The game was tied 2-2 when a key penalty on B2 led to a couple of quick goals. In the end, B3 came out on top by a final score of 5-2.
It was a great season for B League. All of the kids had fun and worked hard -- and remember -- there is always next year.
Thanks coaches and players for making this a season to remember.
