WE ARE LOOKING FOR NEW BOARD MEMBERS? WE NEED YOU TO HELP OUR LEAGUE CONTINUE TO RUN SMOOTHLY!
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE BOARD: Imagine a softball experience for the girls with few coaches, no uniforms, unsafe fields, umpires who show up late, no scorekeepers or snackbar workers – this is what it would be like with no volunteers. To keep our program of 350+ girls running, your help is necessary. The jobs can be fun if you make them, you’ll get to meet families in the community, and you’ll set a good example for our children by showing the importance of community service and volunteering.
Given that most girls in our league will be at the fields for an average of 100 hours, it should not be difficult to understand the amount of work necessary. Board Members, Managers, and Coaches often volunteer over 150+ hours of their time per season. The average volunteer job is a small fraction of that commitment. The reward for all volunteers is not only helping to build a better community based program, but watching the girls enjoy the experience of participating in a first rate youth softball program. OYSA has been around over 30 years and is the most successful and largest league on the central coast. We would like to see it continue to be the best place for girls in our community to play softball.
We have a few board positions open now and anticipate a few more coming in October 2015. We have several board members that have dedicated 4+ years and countless hours to our league. We need to fill these positions in order to keep OYSA running successfully for our softball players and families.
If you would like to volunteer to donate your time to any of the positions that are or will become available, please read the description of each office, which may be found in our Bylaws under “handouts”. Please contact any current Board member if you have any questions or would like to attend a meeting to see how OYSA operates.
