WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE BOARD: Imagine a softball experience for the girls with few coaches, no uniforms, unsafe fields, umpires who show up late, no scorekeepers or snackbar workers - this is what it would be like with no volunteers. To keep our program of 400+ girls running, your help is necessary. The jobs can be fun if you make them, you'll get to meet families in the community, and you'll set a good example for our children by showing them the importance of volunteering and community service.
Given that most girls in our league will be at the fields for an average of 100 hours, it should not be difficult to understand the amount of work necessary. Board Members, Managers, and Coaches often volunteer over 150+ hours of their time per season. The average volunteer job is a small fraction of that commitment. The reward for all volunteers is not only helping to build a better community based program, but watching the girls enjoy the experience of participating in a first rate youth softball program. OYSA has been part of the community for over 30 years and is the most successful and largest league on the central coast. This October, OYSA will be awarded the 30 year banner from the American Softball Association (ASA)!
We will have several board positions available beginning October 2015. Many of our board members have dedicated 4+ years and countless hours to our league. Now it is time for some new members to join. We need to fill these positions in order to keep OYSA running successfully for our softball players and families. Elections will be held September 8th at our General Membership Meeting and terms will begin October 1st.
If you would like to volunteer to donate your time to any of the positions that are or will become available, please read the description of each office, which may be found in our Bylaws under "handouts". Please contact any current Board Member if you have any questions. Thank you!
