We at PYS have been informed of a rumor that is being spread that we will no longer offer fast pitch softball.  That rumor is false.  The board at PYS are still striving to offer the girls and boys progams a safe and friendly enviroment to play the game of softball and baseball in.We take the safety of our players and spectators very seriously   We put all of the players first at our board meetings and in any decision we make.  We deeply appericate the opportunity to help the players progress to the next stage of their athletic careers. We also appreciate the parents that entrust thier children to our care and our coaches care we do not take it lightly.  We look forward to seeing everyone in the upcoming spring season and throughout the summer months.

The Board of Directors for Purvis Youth Sports has made the decision to leave the Dixie Youth Baseball/Dixie Boys and Majors / Dixie Girls Softball organization.  We did not make this decision lightly.  Most of the members of our board have played at Purvis Youth Sports over the course of the thirty year period that the ball park has been open.  We made the decision to leave Dixie because we saw that there was an unfair advantage being put on our players and parents to try to compete with “travel ball”.  We in no way have a problem with travel ball, select ball or any other forms of baseball or sports that promote traveling and playing with teams comprised of players from different communities, we do however feel that there is a place for those type of sporting events we see the value in them.  We as a board believe that there is also a place for recreational baseball/softball and that it is a valuable experience.  We feel that Dixie Youth Baseball/ Dixie Girls Softball are no longer keeping with their founding principles of recreational baseball so we have decided to move on.  We hold no grudges with any Dixie officials.  We wish Dixie Youth Baseball/Dixie Boys and Majors/Dixie Girls Softball the best in future endeavors.

The organization that we will be going to is GSSA (Gulf South Sports Association).  GSSA offers both travel ball and recreational baseball/softball; GSSA keeps the two separate so when teams from Purvis Youth Sports plays in tournaments they will be playing other recreational ball teams.  We as board feel that is important because players will be able to compete with teams of the same make up and talent level. We feel as though we have the talent at PYS to compete against other recreational teams and then have the possibility to bring home World Series trophies.

The Board feels that for the betterment of all players involved in Purvis Youth Sports, this was a necessary move. You will see a few rule changes in the upcoming fall and spring season but we believe the changes are for the better of our program and helping to advance the players to the next level of baseball/softball. As we transition over to GSSA, we will do our best to keep everyone informed as we progress. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask a board member. We are here for the players and parents and will address any concern that you may have.  We look forward to the upcoming seasons and to what the future holds for our players, community and Purvis Youth Sports.

Thank you to our 2016 Field Sponsors

The board for PYS has voted that for safety concerns of players in our 13-15 age group we will not be allowing steel spikes. We appreciate the coaches and parents for understanding. We want every player to play the entire season.
