PVC Coaching Staff
Sarah Powers-Barnhard (PVC Director)
Coach Sarah comes with a well decorated resume. She started her career with the nationally ranked club program Sports Performance in Chicago, Illinois. While playing, Coach Sarah traveled to Germany, Japan and Canada.
Powers-Barnhard went on to earn a scholarship to Division 1 Western Michigan where she competed in the NCAA tournament Elite 8 losing to UCLA to go to the Final 4. Coach Sarah was named an NCAA All American in 1985 and that summer was picked to travel to China and Japan representing the United States.
An accomplished Outside Hitter who was named Second Team All-MAC in 1983 and First Team All-MAC in 1984-85, Barnhard was part of Broncos teams that went 70-0 in the MAC and won four MAC Championships, appeared in four NCAA tournamensts and achieved an overall record of 110-22.
Powers-Barnhard graduated WMU with school records for kills (1,387), digs (964), and points (1725.5), and her total of 173 career service aces still stands as the school record. In 1994, she was one of seven Broncos named to the All-Decade team, and she was inducted into the WMU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997.
From 1987-1989 Coach Sarah Played professionally for the Major League Volleyball Association’s Chicago Breeze. Additionally, Powers-Barnhard has over 25+ years of competitive Beach Volleyball experience.
Will Berdecia (PVC Assistant Director)
Will played indoor volleyball for 9 years with the Navy thus playing against world class volleyball players from all over - specifically teams from Brazil, Italy, and Spain. Will has played Beach Volleyball for 6 years competing in AAA and Open levels and he has been coaching juniors in Beach Volleyball for 4 years.
Will Coaches for PVC U17's who have had much success this club season. He has 4 years of experience coaching juniors at various clubs. He was also a collegiate athlete playing baseball at Iona University.
Samantha (“Sam”) was an Outside Hitter for 4 years at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. After graduating from Appalachian with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, she moved to Jacksonville to attend Florida Coastal School of Law. Sam graduated from FCSL in May 2008, and is currently practicing labor and employment law as an Associate Attorney at Alexander DeGance Barnett.
Sam gained extensive volleyball experience while playing at the Division 1 level and through coaching summer camps at colleges and universities, including Appalachian, Catawba College, and the University of Alabama. Sam has been coaching at the club level since 2009, and has begun following the most recent volleyball trend in learning to play and coach beach volleyball.
Brandi played Collegiate Volleyball for Lebanon Valley College from 2005-2009. She was and Outside Hitter for 2 years and Libero for 2 years thus giving her extensive knowledge in both positions.
Brandi also has experience coaching juniors by coaching for "Herd" Volleyball Club in 2008 and for Baker County Juniors in 2001. Brandi moved here in 2009 and started competing in high level, open beach tournaments along the coast.
Chelsea joins the Powers Volleyball Club after playing Division I volleyball for the University of North Florida from 2007-2010, where she was a defensive specialist. During her four year career for the Ospreys, Rabe earned Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference honors in each of her four seasons.
Chelsea graduated from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Art in Elementary Education. She is currently pursuing her Master of Education at UNF with a concentration in Literacy.
Chelsea currently works as a second grade teacher in Duval County. She will also be entering her third season with the Nease volleyball program. Go Chelsea - we are proud to call you PVC!
Nicole was a setter for 4 years at Saint Leo University. After graduating with bachelors in Healthcare Administration, she decided to further her education to become a physical therapist. While pursuing her doctorate she coached at Sarasota Volleyball Academy. She then moved to Jacksonville for graduate school and is currently a physical therapist at Five Star Physical Therapy: Sports Medicine in Ponte Vedra.
Her coaching experience consists of assisting at Cardinal Mooney High School, head coach of 14's and assistant of 16's at Sarasota Volleyball Academy, assisted in setter training for various summer programs, and private lessons. Nicole is looking forward to returning to coaching with Powers Volleyball Club.
Kayleigh has years of playing and coaching volleyball experience coming to Jacksonville from Oregon and California.
Most recently Kayleigh was the assistant volleyball coach at Southern Oregon University, in Ashland Oregon, where she helped guide the SOU Radiers to a 5th place national ranking in 2011 and a 30-6 conference record the past two seasons. In Ashland, Kayleigh also coached for the Mocean Volleyball Club teams ages 13-18.
Spratt has coached many club teams, beginning with the Mustangs Volleyball Club 14s, a Southern California start-up club, from 2005-06 as well as Club X Volleyball 16 Premier Southern California team in 2007. She led the Northern California based Absolute Volleyball Club 13s, 15s and 16s teams from 2008-11.
Kayleigh graduated from California State University Dominguez Hills in 2008 with a BA in Kinesiology Pre-Physical Therapy and a minor in Biology. She played volleyball all four years for the Toros, finishing her career ranked sixth in program history in career assists. Kayleigh played her club volleyball for Northern California powerhouses Golden Bear and Empire volleyball clubs. She graduated in 2004 from Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park Ca. where she was a multiple sport letter winner.
Currently, she coaches for Allen D. Nease High School. Welcome Kayleigh, thank you for reinvesting in our youth!
Coach Raelle was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She started playing volleyball in school and club in the 6th grade.
Raelle went on to play at Division III at Keuka College in upstate New York. She was Rookie of the Year her freshman year and went on to earn second and first team all conference recognitions during her 4 years at Keuka.
Raelle was voted team captain junior and senior year and earned MVP and NEAC Conference Player of the Year her senior year. She graduated with a BAS in Elementary Education in 2011.
Raelle has come to PVC with club coaching experience, she coached 8-12 year olds when while living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Moving to Jacksonville two years ago she continued coaching for Beaches Volleyball Academy U15 team.

Brittany is a Jacksonville native. She attended Bishop Kenny and Episcopal High Schools.
Brittany played libero and setter in high school, giving her extensive knowledge of both positions. She played for JJVA for 6 years. She went on to play libero at the University of Central Florida in 2007 and at Jacksonville University from 2008-2010.
After graduating from Jacksonville University in 2011, Brittany began her career working in the Marketing field, and continues to assist with volleyball practices and play beach volleyball.
This is Brittany's first season PVC. Welcome Brittany! .
Coach Casey was born in Lighthouse Point, located in men’s volleyball mecca, south Florida. Casey started the first men’s volleyball team in Brevard County, FL, at his high school, Melbourne Central Catholic. As an outsider hitter and setter, Casey holds the county record for both kills and assists.
Casey spent time playing for both the national champions UF Club soccer team and volleyball teams. While at UF, he worked in the biomechanics research lab performing tests and sports medicine-related research on local athletes. Prior to graduation, Casey was chosen out of 50,000 students as the University of Florida’s Most Outstanding Servant Leader of the Year for his commitment to youth achievement and development, and community health. Casey graduated from the University of Florida in May of 2009 with a degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology.
Casey has over 8 years of beach volleyball experience and has spent time training athletes for the sport. In addition, Casey was also the Director of a grant-winning Adaptive-Physical Fitness Program for high school students with physical and intellectual disabilities, and currently a biomedical graduate student at North Florida, and is getting his EMT certification this spring.
Casey brings an array of coaching experience to PVC including Assistant Coach at Gainesville Youth Combine, U13 Boys and U15 girls Assistant Coach at Melbourne Tsunami Soccer Club, Head Soccer Coach at Williams Elementary, and Assistant Coach at Spirit Volleyball Club in Melbourne Beach, Fl.
Casey prides himself in his diverse background with our state’s youth and has spent over 4,000 hours volunteering as a Camp Director, multiple Conference Directorships, Non-Profit Directorships and Coaching positions. Casey follows by “the vision of a leader is that of an athlete, bent over, dripping with sweat and at the point of exhaustion, all while no one else is watching.”
Callie was born in Atlanta, Georgia but has lived in North Florida for most of her life.
Callie started playing volleyball in 5th grade and continued playing throughout high school. She played for and attended Ponte Vedra High School for three years and spent her senior year studying and playing abroad as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student in Austria. While abroad, Callie played for the Ried im Innkreis women's indoor and beach teams.
She is now a first year student at the University of North Florida. We are proud to have Callie in our PVC family!
Brooke started playing volleyball in the eight grade and played both high school volleyball and club volleyball. With her club, she was able to travel around the southeast region and compete.
In addition to playing indoor volleyball, she also played sand volleyball in the spring and summer and competed to win two tournaments and take second in two tournaments.
Brooke graduated from Ponte Vedra High School and is currently a student at Jacksonville University where she is studying nursing. She also coaches volleyball at Resurrection Catholic School.
Before college, Shannon participated in club volleyball for four years. She played varsity at Paxon School for Advanced Studies for two years. She has also played beach volleyball for four years.
Shannon’s college playing experience includes playing MH/MB at Davidson College, NC, a Division I College, her freshman year. She is currently attending UNF.
Shannon’s coaching experience includes coaching at camps and clinics (both at Davidson and for Beaches Volleyball Academy). She began coaching for PVC as an assistant coach for the 12U team during the mini-club season. She is also a coach for Resurrection Catholic School.

Madison comes to us from Lexington, Kentuky. She is a Junior Outside hitter majoring in Elementary Education at The University of North Florida. Prior, she played club ball for Thoroughbred Elite Volleyball Alliance.
Growing up, Madison attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. She earned second team All-State honors as a senior and received first team honors as a junior. She was named first team all-district and all-region all three years of high school and became the first player at Dunbar HS to reach the 1,000 kill mark, ending her career with 1,035.
Madison was named a Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association (KVCA) Player to Watch. She helped the team earn a regional title as a senior and the state final four during sophomore season/ She served as class vice president, giving a commencement speech at graduation.
