GENERAL INFORMATION
The League is comprised of players from their early 50s to middle 70s. During the month of December, a committee of players, selected by the Board Officers, will have the responsibility to assigned players to 6 teams.
Many of the players have played in National Championship Tournaments, such as, SSWC, SSWS, SPA, Huntsmans Games, ISSA, ISA, ASA and Florida Half Century. In November 2002, our travel team, the Port St. Lucie Ramblers 60s, won the ISA Double A Bracket in the ISA World Championship, in Ft. Myers, FL. In March 2006 and 2007, the PORT ST. LUCIE RAMBLERS 65s, won the Double A and Triple A Bracket respectively, in the SS-USA SPRING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT, which were both held in Winter Haven, Fl. In late October, 2007, the RAMBLERS 65s won the 65 GOLD BRACKET in the SOFTBALL PLAYERS ASSOCIATION WINTER NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT, which was held in Tampa, FL. Continuing their winning ways, the Ramblers, on December 2nd, 2007, went on to win the 2007 Florida Half Century 65s State Championship.
A 40 game schedule is played during the January to March season. Playoffs are held at the end of the season for the following three trophies:
1. Championship Trophy - Playoff winner between the 1st & 2nd Half
Champ
2. Presidents Trophy - Championship Game Runner Up
3. Memorial Trophy - Winner of a one game elimination round robin
between the 3rd to 6th seeded teams.
The Memorial Trophy was established in memory of our deceased Commissioner, Lucas "Sarge" Casbar and deceased President, Donald "Niner" Holzer. Since their passing, a memorial stone, in the design of a baseball diamond, has been erected at Sandhill Crane Park. Individual memorial bronze plates with the deceased players' names are affixed to the base of the stone. The play is very competitive, but with the spirit of comradeship among the players. Any one who is at least 50 years "young" or will be 50 during the 2009 season, is welcome to apply in one of the best competitive senior softball leagues on the east coast of Florida.
2009 TEAM SPONSORS
Our League Officers and all the league players want to extend our appreciation and thanks to the individuals and corporations who have sponsored the teams for the 2009 season.
