The Rockville Baseball Association (RBBA) competes in the Montgomery County Baseball Association (MCBA), the Mid-Atlantic Baseball Association (MABA) and the Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League (NVTBL) baseball leagues. The Travel Program provides many opportunities to improve skills and experience while participating in these competitive leagues that feature some of the best players in the county. Our volunteer coaches are National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) certified.
A typical year for a Travel team includes: spring and fall seasons, tournaments in and around Maryland, and a winter training program. Within a spring or fall season the weekly schedule will usually consist of two games and one or two practices. Depending on the league, the games could be scheduled as one weekday and one weekend game. Or in some cases they are scheduled as a double header on the weekend. In addition, teams participate in season end playoff tournaments and can qualify for and have placed in state, regional and national tournaments in locations as diverse as Michigan to Puerto Rico. Teams can and frequently do elect to include additional practices, tournaments, formal instruction, or camps in their schedules.
Our program also has a legacy bid to the annual twelve year old Cooperstown Dreams Park Tournament in Cooperstown, NY near the Baseball Hall of Fame. The tournament lasts an entire week and consists of pool play with 95+ other teams from around the country. This tournament always provides great memories and experiences for the participants and their families regardless of how well the team does.
Participation in the Travel Program does not necessarily preclude players from continuing to participate in the RBBA Recreational Program. Many players have come out of and continue to participate in our Recreational Program. Although the Travel teams do require that their games and practices take precedence in the event of conflicts. Team specific contacts and age requirements are available under each team's page if you have a player that you feel would want to be considered.
