Join Us for the 2012 Brian Waterbury Memorial Rock to Pier Fun Run!
The date for the 2012 Brian Waterbury Memorial Rock to Pier Fun Run will be Saturday, July 7, 2012. Low tide is at 7:37 am and will be a -.3 tide. Registration will begin May 7, 2012.
2012 marks the 43rd running of the Rock to Pier Fun Run. The run/walk is approx. 6 miles in length and takes place on the hard packed sand from Morro Rock to the Cayucos Pier. We welcome people of all ages and fitness levels to participate. Please leave your dogs at home, the beach is home to the Snowy Plover (endangered bird). We will hold the awards ceremony at Morro Rock after the event. We will have buses running every 15 minutes to shuttle participants back to the Rock.
In 2003, Brian Waterbury, one of the founders of the Rock to Pier Run passed away. In honor of Brian and his contribution to running community, the Morro Bay Recreation and Parks Department renamed the event. To learn more about Brian Waterbury, please see handouts.
Start time will be 8:00 am.
Rock'n Around the Pier Half Marathon July 7, 2012
The inaugural running of the Rock'n Around the Pier Half Marathon will take place on July 7, 2012.
The course will begin at Morro Rock and follow on the Beach to the Cayucos Pier. Runner will go around the pier and head back to Morro Bay on the Beach. At Azure St (1.5 miles from the finish), runners will head off the beach and onto the path for a 1 mile loop around the pond at Cloister's Park returning to the beach at Azure and continuing to the finish line at the Rock.
Registration fee will include a Performance t-shirt, finisher's medal, aid stations at miles 2.5, 4, 6, 8, 10.5 and 13.1 as well as breakfast back at the Rock.
This event will be limited to the first 200 participants ages 14 and older. Registration will open on May 7 at 8 am on active.com. (see link below) Registration fee will be $45.

Registration will begin on May 7, 2012. There are three ways that you may register--online, by mail or in person.

Registration will begin on Monday May 7, 2012.
Mail In Registration
Mail in Registration will be begin Monday May 7, 2012 and available until Friday June 29, 2012*. Please send your completed registration form and payment to: Morro Bay Recreation and Parks Department 1001 Kennedy Way Morro Bay, CA 93442
Please allow ample time for your registration to arrive. If we do not have your registration form, you will be required to complete a new form and pay to participate on race day. We will return your check if it arrives.
*Half Marathon is open until filled or June 29, 2012, whichever comes first.
Walk-in Registration
Walk-in Registration will be available from Monday, May 7, 2012 to Friday, July 6, 2012 at 7:00 pm. Our regular office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Friday, July 6, 2012 we will be holding registration and packet pick-up from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Walk-in registration will be held at the Morro Bay Community Center, 1001 Kennedy Way, Morro Bay.
Race Day Registration July 7, 2012 – 06:30 AM
Race Day Registration will take place from 6:30 am to 7:30 am (tentative)at Morro Rock Parking Lot on Saturday, July 7, 2012. Please note that registration fees for the Rock to Pier Run will increase by $10 on race day and the Half Marathon by $20 if space is still available.
