Field Status Alerts
There aren't many things in life that are FREE, but here's one.  During the season, it may be necessary to close the fields due to inclimate weather.  Often times, the rain out line becomes overwhelmed with call volume and its difficult for parents to get through.  Now you don’t have to rely on just the rain out line.

Again this season, when the county closes any of the fields within the county, in addition to the information on the rain out line, they will use a website to communicate current field status information.  As the field status changes, it will be updated instantly on SMP website.

Additionally, for FREE parents can join the  StatusMe network where members are alerted instantly both via emails and cellular text messages (charges may apply from your cell phone provider).

The best part is that it’s FREE to join the network.

Club members can receive instant electronic communications (email and/or cellular text messaging) when the field status changes (i.e. Opened or Closed).  Members no longer have to constantly check club websites and weather hotlines for the latest information.  Information comes to you when it changes.

The current field status is posted on the park website

Joining is simple following these instructions…………….

1.  Go to www.statusme.com
2.  Click on the “join now” button to register as a new user.
3.  Enter the required information and click on the register button
4.  Follow the instructions in step 1 to set up your text messaging and email
5.  Follow the instructions in step 2 to join a club – Select Georgia, then seelct Forsyth County and then the   club you want to select from the list is Forsyth County Baseball/Softball.
6.  Once you have selected the information in Step 5, click the Join button
7.  Once you have joined the club, click on the “next” button
8.  Lastly, you’ll need to join the club for Baseball Fields by clicking the “join” link in the section titled “Your clubs”
9.  Click on the “done” button
10. You’ll now receive the type of notice(s) that you selected when the field status changes

Please note that because many of the age groups play or practice at more than one park, we did not set up the notices to be delivered by individual park. Otherwise, parents would have had to join a club for each park in order to get the field status for parks other than their home park. By having one notice, we can cover all fields at all parks with one notice.

Sportsmanship
If you haven't heard the story of the girls softball game in Oregon, this is a great story and a good reminder of what it's really all about.  This is an excellent reminder of the bigger picture about teaching life lessons to kids.  As coaches and parents, we can teach our youth alot.  We can also learn alot from them which is evident in this story.

The video is a little over 5 minutes long and is the story that ran on ESPN - very much worth the time for your players and parents to watch if they haven't seen the story already.  Click on the link below to watch the video

Game scores and standings

Completed game scores and standings will be maintained as games are completed this season.  To view the standings and game results, go to the SMP website and click on the Game Results / Standings menu item.  You will then be redirected to the standings website.

Once at the standings website, select what you want to view from the menu items.  You will then need to select the division (league) for your age group.

Best of luck to everyone this season.
