SCMF May Newsletter
April 30th, 2015
Thought I’d take a moment to send out a few announcements.
Many of you receiving this letter have already registered your child for the upcoming season. If you haven’t registered your child for the fall yet, we’d like to encourage you to do so as soon as possible. Although the season is a few months away our early bird registration deadline is approaching and registering prior to the early bird deadline will save you money. The online registration form is available thru our website, SCMF.ca and in the coming days I’ll also be posting a printable version of the registration form in the event you’re unable to use online payments. This will allow you to print the form off and mail it in with your cheque for the upcoming season. All mailed registrations must be post marked by June 15th to qualify for the early bird price. Please note when you register that prices have remained the same for the Atom and Pee Wee divisions. The only change is an additional team fee for Bantam players. This will go towards transportation costs to and from road games.
FOOTBALL CANADA SURVEY
Football Canada wants to hear from parents, families and Canadian athletes about their football experience. They will use this information to help better design and deliver programs and services to advance amateur football in Canada.
The survey should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. You can save and come back to the survey at any time.
Upon completion of this survey, you may be eligible to enter into the football survey contest to win the following prizes provided by the CFL:
First-prize: Two tickets to the 2015 Grey Cup in Winnipeg, and three nights hotel accommodation for two
Second prize: Authentic CFL team jersey (team of choice)
Third prize: Authentic CFL team jersey (team of choice)

POLICE BACKGROUND CHECK POLICY
Given recent developments in our communities, several organizations are reviewing their police background check policies. Swift Current Minor Football is very committed to the safety of it’s players and members. We have always had a policy that requires coaches to have background checks prior to the season. However, after some discussion our board has established some further policies to ensure the safety of your children. Heading in to this season, all board members, coaches as well as officials over the age of 16 will be required to obtain and submit Police Background Checks to the league prior to the start of the season. We will be requiring that any returning members in any of those positions obtain a new background check every second season. If you have any questions or concerns about the new or existing safety policies we’d encourage you to contact any one of our board members to discuss the matter further.
