Championship Weekend Wrap Up

The SCMF season came to a close for 2017 this weekend. The season ended for the Len's Plumbing/Smitty's Bantam Steelers in disappointing fashion as they fell to the Weyburn Cardinals 43-0 in Weburn Saturday. This year's team was very young But battled hard against some veteran filled teams. Under the direction of head coach, Brian Cloutier the Steelers had a very strong season.  Next years team will be even better.

Over on the Atom side, the 1st place Shaunavon TransCanada Pipelines Cowboys squared off against the Swift Plumbing & Heating Raiders on Sunday. It was a fantastic back and forth battle that ended with a last play Raiders touchdown to pull off a stunning 26-22 win. Both teams played extremely well and should be very proud of a great season.

In the final game of the 2017 SCMF season the Shaunavon Benchview Angus Cowboys pulled off an unbelievable upset over the previously undefeated Patterson Agriculture Group Jaguars in the Peewee Championship Final. The first half was hard hitting and saw the Cowboys take a 12-7 lead to the half after a late score. But, in the second half the Cowboys poured it on and finished the game with a 30-7 win.

Congratulations to to all the winning teams and thanks to all our players, officials, coaches and fans for a fantastic 2017 season. Looking forward to seeing everyone back next season and good luck to those players trying out for the Sask Select teams this winter.
